Paradisa airport anon here, what are some decent alternatives to LDD where I can port these models into? I want to use some retro parts like light green baseplates and corner walls to shape the tarmac and main building of the airport, but the parts selection in LDD is basically limited to what Lego was still producing by the time it was discontinued. Also, I've heard there are some with BrickLink integration?

Markets change and to stay successful, companies need to flow with what works when it works and drop things when they don't. You have to think back to the time period where Lego first came out with Star Wars sets. Star Wars was on fire in the spring of 1999 with the Special Edition recently in theaters and Episode 1 hype, so their timing was perfect to make that deal. The in-house themes were reusing lots of cheap parts and a lot of them were uncreative and unappealing as builds. The non-licensed themes now are much more original with better building techniques. They've found their footing again and then some.

The Star Wars license has a lot of problems attached to it now because of how Disney has handled it. No one's expecting anything great for episode 9 and the buzz over the spin-offs has been lukewarm at best. Even before 8 came out, expectations were cautiously low for a lot of people. After what we got and no sign of things getting better, the series is dead for a lot of people.

Lego is at its best when they're making their original ideas. Ninjago is a good example. Pretty simple concept that's already popular, but since they don't have to play in the confines of someone else's idea, they can get as wild as they want with it.

I went to Lego Stores as a kid knowing more than the people working there about upcoming products. I asked them once if I could put one (1) special piece from the parts bins of their play section into my PaB cup and they denied it. They were and never will be helpful and it infuriates me to no end how they pretend to be kind and caring when they are even more anal about corporate policies than other stores. Just nick some seagulls and nice hats from their parts bins and buy your shit from Bricklink.

The biggest set I have is the Call of Duty satelite and it had warped 2x8 plates. Bar and stick parts (like lightsabers in appearance) have differing tolerances.
The set is already kind of old right now but I don't think they improved at all in that timespan. Mega Bloks were basically worse than bootlegs before 2012 or so and improved quality when they got their nieche as video game blocks but since then they just kept that level. I honestly have literal chinese bootleg lego parts with better tolreances and no warping.

I got some pokemon ones from toys r us at 50% off and I can say that the quality is comparable but arguably not on the same exact tier honestly. Putting them together feels a little more like you're forcing 2 pieces together as opposed to them naturally fitting together. There are a lot of interesting pieces lego doesn't have however, if you're so compelled you probably won't regret it.

I fucking hate modern passenger trains and freight trains because they just keep making these two sets for nearly 2 decades now. I just want a good traditional locomotive but they are doing one shitty extra-toyetic looking old-style one only every 5 years.
I think I will just buy some wheels now that the Hogwarts Express is putting them all back into production, maybe the prices go low for at least a year. But I would still need to buy one of their shitty eternal Freight trains as a starter pack for the motor and rails.

I should have bought the Emerald Express back when it was available.

Looks like I need your help once again, /lg/. I can't get either of these to work. The Mario one has the right colours available, but I can't see any way to add more Mario features to make it not just look like a Mario-coloured Unikitty. I have not noticed a "milky color".
I have noticed that some colors and some coming from China, such as CMFs are slightly off. Most noticeably the yellow hands, which have a slightly greenish tinge to them, although heads and arms seem to be fine. Also, dark blue is not the same as dark blue produced in other countries/factories.

I'm convinced that the only reason this seems to be such an epidemic, is because we have the internet and like to complain when shitty things happen.
Since I started collecting/building again properly in 2010, I've had less then 6 pieces break on me, two of which seem to be because of minor issues in the molding one of which unnoticeable externally, the other was such a minor thing that they could be easily missed. I also have maybe a dozen pieces that have hairline cracks in them.
When I was a kid, it was about the same in terms of quantity of bricks cracking and breaking. The only major differences? A lot more of my minifigs would crack and break when I was a kid.

It must suck to be American then, because the only time I've seen a change in price for CMFs here in Oz, was when Coles supermarkets tried to sell them for $6. About 2 months later, my local Coles having sold none of them, put them on permanent sale for $5, which is the same price as pretty much every other store, except Big W (who sell them for $4.75) have sold them since series 1.

She ruins the only character death that would've been bold and impactful. And in saving Finn she essentially doomed the rest of the Resistance. She had no knowledge Rey would save the day. Finn would've stopped the First Order from breaking into the mine but Rose fucked everyone over so she can sperg out to Finn her unrequitted love before they both got vaporized by artillery. Again, she had no knowledge Rey or Luke would show up. Her thought process in that whole scene made no fucking sense and benefited nobody.

I thought the small basic creature lighthouse was pretty good. Of course, I'm biased as I got it specifically to build with my 4 year old son. Still, it would be easily to blow up the design and make your own. The shape itself is extremely basic.

I’m generally unhappy with my life so I put together a Lego minifigure of myself. He works in an office too, but he has more fun!
He even has his own house, gym, and friends!

As this anon said, mega bloks is snapping together gunpla, lego is like sticking sexy magnets together. I generally wouldnt mix their pieces into lego mocs.

But I honestly prefer mega bloks sets. Despite being all licenseshit, their sets are generic enough to inspire my imagination, have a balanced mix of basic bricks and extremely cool specialised snot/detail pieces, come with genius brick compatible micro action figures, the bricks themselves give off a nice pseudo weathered effect and the value for your money in general is better.

Their technic rip off system is shit however and their tubes/bars/pegs have much lower manufacturing consistency (only good for cosmetics, not functions).

Not sure if youre the pokeanon but megas pokeyball sets certainly arent mixels.

Most of the sets I own are totally fine, although some parts are only connected to one stud, which makes them easy to knock off. Aside from that, my only real complaint is that they don't/can't make GI Joe sets.

Rebbots are done like this. A company hires a bunch of hipsters who treat the job as being funded to do their own vision instead of hired and paid to do a job. The reboot must have nothing in common with the source material except the name so the hipsters' vision receives an instant fanbase and quick nostalgia bucks that are then presented as their own success instead of riding on the fame of another man's work. Also the reboot must make the original fans rage, have a Poochie and have virtue signaling. So here's my professional reboot idea.

LEGO Aquazone. A Paradisa-City hybrid taking place in Sandy City that follows the lives of the teen members of Aquazone, an activity club about surfing, scuba diving, and mostly street sports. Their antagonists are the Aquasharks, a club of teen meanies who listen to angry music, go scuba hunting and pollute the sea. Aquazone would be helpless to prevent them if it weren't for Deepthroat Sunsparkle, a magical mermaid princess who is smart and pretty and cool and I will publically attack people who don't like her on Twitter.

The whole "kaiju are heading for Mount Fuji" thing is directly bullshit considering they were going from the middle of the Pacific to the North American coast in the original.

Scrapper was a tolerable concept until they put it into the end fight.

None of the jaegers move like robots, and they lazed out on the piloting rigs so there's even less tactile feedback.

The sense of scale is lost due to simplified lighting, and the CG is much more obvious in a way that makes the scaling issues worse.

The amount of parts breaking from just being connected and left on display, especially reddish brown, is insane.
Those connectors are from a CCBS Chewbacca that was bought only a few months ago and two of them are in a position where they aren't even under influence of any stress and all of the other connectors in black are perfectly fine.

Random question guys, I have the Anakin's Jedi Interceptor and a City Dirt Bike Transport truck sets. Both were released a few years ago and I had both of them stored in a drawer for years. When I pulled them out a few days ago, I discovered that almost all of the c-clip pieces had broken. They were fine when I put them in there and had not suffered any abuse. Older clips of mine have held up fine. Is this a common problem?

Thanks! I'm very proud of that because the bottom of the cupcake wrapper will only attach to a Duplo brick, so I had to integrate a Duplo brick into the build. Luckily for me I had a white 2x4 Duplo brick that's half as thick as a standard Duplo brick that came in the same set as the cupcake.

The Don's basement was a little tricky to shoot from below, so I rigged up some hinges and a SNOT connection to be able to tilt the backdrop and ceiling upward. This let me get more of a dramatic "Hollywood angle" to the shot that wouldn't be possible in real life with 90-degree angles.

I've heard from PBBG that enlighten is the best knock off brand, but I've gotten some of their stuff and it is definitely knock off. If you don't care, I won't judge, but if I was about to do this I would want to be warned. I would be especially wary with ball and socket parts, especially at 23¢ per/min 20, but you'll probably enough of them that connect well with that minimum at least.

I kinda think they should bring back Jack Stone style minifigs.
Not exactly how they were, no make some changes, like the ability to separate and swap the legs and torsos,l maybe more importantly change it to use regular heads.
Not saying that this should then be a new bigfig, but it could work well as a "midfig", ie a middle sized figure that falls between the regular minifigs and the large bigfigs.

Depends entirely on the series. I can do blind minifigs for $4, but it's pretty damn annoying getting a duplicate, especially of a fig you don't want.

If it was all ogres, cyclopes, giants etc. I would probably get a few, maybe more if you could feel the bag and ensure 100% that you wouldn't get a duplicate unless it was the one you wanted.

I think $12 is a little high, but I could see them being packaged with a minifig for $15.

What are some foolproof ways to determine whether a minifigure is bootleg or not? I thought you could tell based on whether or not the figure has a nold mark on the lip inside the minifigure's foot, but I've noticed that a lot of official figures don't have them.

Looks like the characters all have a mad max theme to them. Looking at that Batman, he's got tires for shoulder pads.
