What are some drawing/reference figures that aren't Archetypes/Body-Kun?

i own both a Figma Archtype female/male, a Body-Kun, and a Body-Kun/Body-Chan Takarai Rihito/Yabuki Kenataro editions.
they're all actually great and helped me a lot with my drawings

anways are there any other good art/refernce figures that aren't those? I don't know much about figures but i'm sure there's more drawing figures than just these?

if there's figures that are just generic or articulate enough to use as reference those would be great too

Then there's the 18" spider-man. He's not artist manikin, but he's very poseable.

the answer is always Phicen or JaoOu dolls blank bodies. they cost the same as a recent release figma.

Don't get a seamless doll for art reference. The point of an reference doll is to figure out posing and perspective. Anatomy is done through the study of real life humans and such. A phicen is incredibly limited with it's articulation unless you want to mess up the figure and is no good for accurate anatomy.

It's not really a figure, more of a stop motion armature, but Stickybones was made to also be used as a drawing reference. They're about to ship out soon, after about two years of manufacturing processes. You can still buy one on their IndieGogo page. I can't wait for mine.

They can break from too much use, specially along the joints, they are great figures (imho) but if OP is going to be moving them too often and flexing them then problems might arise. The other problem that is sometimes reported is that you need to keep them clean otherwise handling them too often might cause the body to deteriorate faster.

This. It's free, it is very customizable with different body types and camera angles, and it allows for a much wider range of movement than most action figures.

I feel like a lot of artists looking for an action figure to draw are either poorly informed, or just kinda want an excuse to buy a cool toy. If you actually want to improve, go to life drawing sessions in your area, there is literally no substitute for an actual human model. You won't understand the way muscles move and strain or the ways skin stretches using a toy. For quick gestures and such, design doll will solve all your problems.

This is the thing a lot of amateur artists fail to understand. Action figures are fun, a lot of fun. But you're essentially fighting the plastic every step of the way, and are going to waste a lot of time doing so while you could be drawing instead. Changing hands, swapping accessories, messing with flight stands, trying to gain a little more ab crunch than the joint will give. It's a headache, and now that we have good free digital pose tools, there is really no reason not to use them instead.
