So was there ever a reason given as to why hasbro seems to have been ignoring the 3’34 inch scale that used to be the main scale for their lines?
Universe is fucking dead, and so was VC for years. It just seems strange to suddenly abandon lines for no apparent reason

1 manufacturing costs went up
2 they can charge more for a larger figure and the base cost is nearly the same as a 3.75
3 they can skip over vehicles and developement costs for them

Traditionally speaking, smaller figures were mostly just accessories for larger vehicles and playsets. It's why both G.I. Joe and Star Wars thrived at the 3 3/4 scale, because they had a massive amount of vehicles and playsets every kid wanted to go with them.

Nowadays, toys sections are getting smaller and smaller, and those larger vehicles and playsets take up far too much space and have far too little return for most stores to want to stock them. With the declining popularity of toys with kids, and parents being less willing to spend large amounts of money on space eating giant bases and ships, it's more of a risk for a store to try and sell them. Without the larger playsets, the smaller figures just aren't as popular.

Meanwhile, the 6" scale strikes a happy medium in being big enough for collectors to display and while still being small enough for kids to handle. It's a good balance for fans, takes up minimal amount of space on the shelves, and can appeal to a wider variety of markets.

As a long time Joe fan, I'm sad to see the scale disappear. Especially with the loss of TRU and their fantastic True Hero line of cheap army toys. Hopefully the next Joe movie (supposedly) in 2020 will reinvent the line again and we can see some cool stuff, but I'm not holding my breath for it.

I just dont get this, i always preferred the smaller figures, and only got into legends in the past few years because of the fact that they were the only figures getting made. Am i just weird, or does anyone else think like that?

I doubt it, considering they were releasing these guys for under $20 and they were basically for collectors only, so they could have upped the price.
The 3 packs were about $25, so that's even cheaper per figure.

It's more that they're trying to get 13 for a proper 1/18 figure and 10 for a 1/18 figure with 5 swivel-jointed PoA and some poorly thought-out gimmick item. Compare this shit to Grossery Gang figures that have 5 or more PoA that's either ball-jointed or swivel-hinge jointed with an action feature, a weapon, a miniature version of itself, and a decent paintjob, all for 8 bucks.

As a collector of both scales, and as someone who's made displays featuring both, the 6" figures just look better on the average shelf. For 3 3/4 stuff, you need risers or some sort of backdrop or diorama to really make them look good. But 6" scale stuff just need to be posed properly to look quite eye catching. Yes a backdrop or diorama can make a 6" display even better, but it's not as needed compared to the smaller scale.

Unless you have really short shelves, the 3 3/4 stuff leaves far too much dead space, and if they are short shelves then they cut into ones field of vision for the display.

I love my Joes, have hundreds of them, but on a big shelf, they just seem lacking. Put them with vehicles and playsets in a similar scale to them however, and they come to life, despite their smaller size.

The 50th series was all bundles though. 2packs and 3packs. They were trying to reduce the costs by doing that, further suggesting that they had difficulty making a profit at that scale.

In both their main 4" lines, Star Wars and GI Joe, they basically had made "perfect" versions of everyone, so a lot of people stopped buying every variant or gimmick crap fig.

It's easier for stores to buy and sell at a higher price point. More profit per shelfspace, especially for a known line that will have a high sell through.

I'm thinking you drank way too much of 4H's shill juice for believing their BS that their 1:18 figures would cost nearly the same as 1:12 figures.
We've seen how all other kickstarter toy companies have been able to sell their toys to other retailers at actual wholesale prices, while either costing the same or maybe a few bucks more, while all their Mythic Legion figures go for almost twice as much when sold by the same retailer, despite being cheaper to produce.
4H expects a very high profit margin and they overpriced their shit because of that.
