You can see with the new Star Wars that there is a retraction in numbers in movie ticket sales and merch sales. Even though TLJ made a billion, there was a clear sign that there was bad word of mouth with steeper than normal ticket sales week after week. Solo was a straight up bomb.
Merch sales has seen a retraction year after year, where you can still find TFA merch on shelves despite being clearanced for $1 or less. I don't think even TPM merch stayed on the shelves as long as it did in Targets and WalMarts, where merch is deeply discounted unlike KBs and TRUs back in the early 00s.
You aren't seeing lines of offshoots like this because the interest isn't there anymore, yet other franchises do see sublines being produced all the time (Marvel, DC, Call of Duty, etc).
At best, there's the SDCC exclusives of a comic character where they'll sell 5k-15k packs and that's nothing compared to this rancor which would have gotten at least 50,000 units made to be sold everywhere in the US.
