>>6995375Eh. I mean I don't hate it like some people but I do think it was very half-baked.
Luke's resistance to training Rey was fine. Luke dying with that force projection trick was fine. The back and forth with Rey and Kylo was fine. Killing Snoke even makes sense, as an effort to make Rey join forces with Kylo.
The side plot with finding the codebreaker was OK...until that crap about releasing the racing animals happened. Like if they just found DJ, fucked up, and were betrayed, it would've been OK.
The chase in space that ended up with Holdo's suicide was OK...except, A) they should've cranked down the feminism and just made her an uniformed admiral that was a jerk for more military reasons and B) they needed to think through that "we're outrunning the imperial fleet but somehow Finn/Rose are going to leave and, somehow, catch back up" logic hole.
Super Leia was just stupid FX wankery. Should've had her use her force power to NOT GET SUCKED OUT and then pass out from the exertion once the shields kicked in and repair crews could run in and get her. Then she could be in a coma or whatever, no change in that part of the story.
Most of Rose's scenes were bullshit. The thread of her sister dying to save the fleet from disaster is a good one but they really waste it because Rose is so awful.
I know it'll never happen but I wonder if a Director's Cut (with a different director obviously) could save it.
