Ok, so I got a Proto Gundam in the mail... and the box is nearly flattened since he just wrapped some cardborad around the RD box, and shipped it. It was shipped later than advertised as well. How much feed back do I give to the seller?
Anonymous
Well, look who finally decided to show up! First put a deposit down for this sucker way back in October of last year.
>>6994104 >So I got the second version of Guncannon in and I guess he can with decals. >Aren’t most of those just stickers and not water slides and is it worth putting on them if they are stickers? >Cause don’t stivkers typically get dirty and fuck up the plastic? Anon, are you talking about the Guncannon DT or the ANIME Guncannon? Because the DT came with water slides, while I'm not too sure if the ANIME came with slides or stickers. Bandai suggests placing some of the ANIME's decals over a large uneven surface, and that's usually something you'd want to use a water slide for, but other ANIME RDs have come with just stickers.
I will say that stickers won't mess up the plastic, and as long as you apply the sticker smoothly onto a flat surface and avoid touching the adhesive backing you shouldn't have any issues with them getting dirty (though it would help to periodically dust them to avoid build-up around the edges of the sticker, but the dust won't get under the sticker or anything). I place stickers onto a very small flat-head screwdriver when applying them to avoid touching the backing and to give me more control over the application.
>>6984509 >I just got the FZ.. also have issues with the feet..and balance. The biggest hurdle was breaking the stiffness of the hip joints though. They just didnt want to move anywhere except directly forward and back at first. Yeah, I had the same experience! Once you break 'em in it's not so bad, though. And hey, better tight joints than loose ones, haha.

>>6995259 eBay? Shit all over his shipping time and leave some scathing feedback. There's no reason to ever not cushion a package, that's shipping one-oh-fuckin-one.
Or, first see if you can get some money back since it's been damaged due to insufficient packaging (take pics of everything). If not, ask to return it for a full refund (on his dime since he fucked up). If he gives you shit threaten to get Ebay involved because he's a shitty seller who ships damaged goods and takes misleading photos (what you received wasn't in the same condition as what he was advertising). Best case, you get a full refund AND keep the figure. Who knows, the future is bright!
Anonymous
>>6995297 As expected, the figure is absolutely lovely. Gorgeous painted, pearlescent finish on everything and plenty of metallic painted highlights & tampo printed detail. Also as expected, the figure cannot stand unsupported; the wings are plastic so they aren't particularly heavy individually (though there is a good amount of diecast used in the struts that hold the wings up), but combined it's just too back heavy. Definitely best displayed in some kinda flight pose.
>>6984287 >this is fucking beautiful. I kinda wish I kept my boxes but whatever. Hah, thanks anon. I can respect tossing boxes, they take up so much dang space!
>>6995259 Dang, that stinks, anon. Is there any damage to the figure? Before leaving any kind of feedback, I'd recommend contacting the seller first as
>>6995322 suggested. Be polite but also make your disappointment clear (especially if something broke!).
Also, when you say that it shipped later than advertised, did it at least arrive within the estimated delivery date? As long as it showed up withing the estimated window, I wouldn't really make that an issue. Let us know how it goes!
Anonymous
>>6995330 >>6995322 I've been going through all parts, and put the Gundam in as many poses as possible, doesn't seem like anythings broken.
Anonymous
>>6995330 Blurry shot of the diecast support struts for the wings.
Anonymous
>>6995333 Shot of the wings. They have the same pearlescent finish as the rest of the figure and are really quite striking in person. Tampo detail all over plus a lot of articulated "feathers."
>>6995331 Any cosmetic damage to the RD from being crushed? Look for blunted edges (maybe on the chest or cockpit area) or maybe spots where the RD was rubbing against the clamshell as it was crushed.
Anonymous
>>6995342 And a quick comparison shot with Wing RD and the MB Arbalest. The effect of the Katoki diet is especially apparent next to the Arbalest, haha.

>>6988864 's shot. That's a Lego minifigure with the quarter, plus RD Alex.
>>6995370 Good to hear!
>>6995386 So from your purchase history, go to the item, look for the "more actions" pull down menu, and select "contact seller.". It sounds like you're on the page that comes after that, where you're asked to select a topic. One of those topics should be something like "I have a question about using my item or I want to send the seller a message," look for the option that has a "(0)" after it, which indicates there's no automatic answer for that topic.
Pick that topic and you should be able to compose a message.
>>6995400 Very good looking shelves, anon!
Anonymous
>>6995451 Thanks, I just asked for a partial refund since I don't want to go through the trouble of returning it and finding another one. If he's an ass I'll dispute a full refund and return the figure on his dime, plus bad feedback.
All this because the guy was too cheap to use a normal box and decent padding. After looking closely, I think he used one of those book boxes they use for shipping a single book, and just forced the RD in there, barely used any bubblewrap, and very little paper, just at the side of the box.

Amazon has the Metal RD 00 Raiser down to $84, which is an all-time low:
https://www.amazon.com/Bandai-Tamashii-Nations-Spirits-Raiser/dp/B01N5M8ZMI We usually only see that price for warehouse deals. Sorely tempted, but since I don't have any other 00 stuff in that scale I can barely resist.
>>6995503 Hmm, pretty conflicted on whether or not to get this one. The little baby bazooka is cute, heh.
>>6996025 Nuu and Shishioh are the main two I know of. There's schizophonic, but he primarily reviews gunpla and it's been a while since he's done an RD review:
http://schizophonic9.blog103.fc2.com/ >>6996231 I don't think they're bad at all. Though their engineering isn't up to ANIME par, the M9s are still very solid figures. Nicely sculpted with excellent accessory spreads, and they've got articulation everywhere you'd expect. The range of movement doesn't meet modern RD standards, but as you can see is this old shot they're still more than capable of striking a good pose.
Certainly wouldn't say no to improved FMP RDs, though! Even applying the improvements found in the Lamda Driver Arbalest would be nice, and I'd love to see a new Savage mold (though the old was is still great) done up in all the unique schemes we saw in the FMP Invisible Victory anime.

I recently started collecting Gundam action figures since I used to love 'em as a kid. Recently got Char's Sazabi from an ebay seller in Italy. When it arrived, the package had been ripped open and the pieces are now held in place with crappy tape. Was this something customs did? Do they put some sort of notice on boxes they've opened? How can I tell if the problem is the seller's fault or if we're both the victims of international shipping?

>>6998679 That lineart isn't quite right. The Eva TV show had a problem with the animators continuously drawing the evas off model so they just changed the design later in storyboard and later concept art. So the "correct" design is what you see in the show itself, which has a distinctly more slender lower body and waist with large shoulders.

I agree Galient is probably next if only for the fact there’s really no other 80’s shows left to milk that wouldn’t work better as a hi-metal.

Anonymous
>>7007609 The later ones, at least in my experience, are all hits, I love em to death. I don't think you have much to worry about, being as all three of those are late-line releases. Your biggest worry will be clearing enough shelfspace, Zwauth is a monster and even the "normal" sized Aura Battlers are pretty girthy and have pretty big backpacks and wingspans.
If you still feel iffy on the line, try picking up one of the cheaper releases first to get a feel for what they're like. Just try to make sure it's one of the later releases, they definitely got better over time.

Anyone ever own this bad boy? I have been looking for a good GP-01Fb toy because I love the 0083 series, and Bandai seems to avoid making toys of the 0083 designs for some fucking dumb reason. The Real Grade kit looks detailed but I heard its super fragile and the feet on it look ridiculous.

The fragility issue usually is, like, moving the arm will make the top torso part come off. If you glue the core block into place it'd be pretty solid. You could even just glue in the top of the torso and keep the top/bottom separation gimmick, like from the Val Varo fight, and it'd still be solid enough. Otherwise it's not falling apart or breaking. It does have a nice gap under the chest verniers, though:

The movie is a supercut of some key events and battles mashed together. The entire point of the movies was to cash in on the series's revived popularity to lead a new merchandising initiative. It cuts out so much there's no emotional value in ANY of the characters and it misses out on great episodes like the scout planting bombs on the gundam; pretty much the entire refugee conflict including the lady looking for her long destroyed town and the good zeeks who help her; etc. Those "non-essential" episodes did a better job than most of the big events at setting the mood of the series. Not to mention they cut episodes like the Luna II conflict early on even though it does a good job portraying the problems and personalities inside the federation. M'quave is nearly completely cut from the movies besides one or two expository scenes. There are also big character moments like Amuro rampaging with the Gundam after his meeting with his mom, showing just how psychotic he can get when pushed to the brink and he's unraveling because of pressure. And Amuro's first meeting with M'quave, where he attacks M'quave's mine for no reason after deserting because he's frustrated and wants to prove he's some sort of genius. You get the point.
It turns a character drama with a lot of good moments into a poorly cut, perhaps, documentary style viewing that just quickly shows you the events. Some like the death of Matilda and Ryu are just poorly cut together into one battle like it's fucking Power Rangers.
The movies are for people who have already seen the shows not as a jumping on point. You might as well tell people to go watch a bunch of random youtube videos about the show, it's about the same experience.

>>7013693 Maybe they’re holding onto hope they can release the Big Zam and it’ll come with part swaps for sleggar’s death scene. More realistically it could be a pack in for the Zeong to make up for the fact it has no weapons other than its hands.

I only ever owned one of the Dragonars (number 2), and although it's not A.N.I.M.E. quality, it's still got great articulation. Also, if you're looking for a cheap Dragonar 2, I've been meaning to sell mine actually.

Got my first Anime figure, the Gundam (with no Bazooka) for 24 bucks. I love the figure, but the shoulder joint is really stiff, and the beam sabers feel a bit too large.

>>7014265 You can work out the shoulder joint overtime, strange yours is lik ethat unless maybe you got the first touch one?
Nothing doing about the sabers, I thought they were fine personally.

My dudes, does the Alex have a mid-knee swivel? It kind of looks like it does, and that's something Bandai has been doing recently (in fact, the Alex itself has mid-elbow swivels!). But they won't budge on mine, if they are indeed joints.

Welp, lesson learned, I'm going to stop buying all white RD's. Living in the Caribbean fucks them up in less than a year. My Talgeese and Victory both are yellowed after 2 years.

Got my Titans MK-2 today. Overall looks great, I love the proportions and the paint on seems pretty sharp with minimal sloppiness. My big complaint though is the beam rifle has a giant seam line straight through the camera sight. It looks like the gun belongs to a shitty 90's no grade kit, not what is supposed to be a premium line.

Just ordered pic related for around 110. I own a could RDs and am happy with them, but no other Hi-metals. How did I do? is it a good, fun fig? I've always wanted a decent transformable valk at non-assrape prices, and even if the scale is off, would probably look good displayed with my old G1 Jetfire.

Do check that the armor parts on your valk all fit properly once you get it in though, as some folks did get miss-assembled leg armor on their copies of the 1A Hikaru release. Happily, mine had no issues.
