I stil have this. I got it for christmas long time ago. Like a retard I assembled the crotch wrong (backwards) and also broke the thing that holds the laser gun on the very first day. I loved the retractable claws, they looked like serious business and I thought the cockpit was awesome, I even taped a small light with a AA battery inside to have it illuminated. I hated the bulky Hawk figure it came with though. The whole star Brigade thing seemed too sci-fi for me.

Also there's a huge production error with the con set, Major Bludd arrived from the factory with now mustache and the Club will be replacing them. So hold off on buying any from anyone second hand otherwise it will be next to impossible to get the corrected head for your figures.

Second there's a production error on the Python Patril Laser Vipers, where their eyes didn't get painted in.

The Club has said they're correcting these issues on a second production run.

Quick reviews on the set all say that the new Spirit is great. His head also looks much better than the production image. There's much more details present on the final figure.

Sgt Smasher is also much better and he has a removable hat.

The Python Patrol figures are also cool with the amount of new troop builders being added.

Hasbro showed up for the custom class at Joecon and gave people unreleased concept case head sculpts including a Sunbow accurate Duke and Venom Vs Valor Spirit, along with Zombie Cobra Commander and Storm Shadow, along with a few other heads.

Hasbro, though, being Hasbro made attendees sign a form saying they're legally not allowed to sell the heads. So expect these to be custom caste like crazy.

Casually I'm gonna start to work in a space adventure diorama and entered here today to ask some questions.

My humans are going to be joes and marvel universe figures basically, and I wanted to ask if there are any figures out there that could fit well as alien species? Aside of the obvious SWBlack Series, of course, since I want to avoid SW aliens to not look like...well, SW.

Also, would also accept suggestions for vehicles, then again no SW, from other series, even if they are not a perfect fit. Since I will use them as background basically, something from Playmobil perhaps?

Any ideas?

Got the inspiration when I found one of my old toys in my grandma countryyard house (The scorpion). I almost came when I saw it. Pretty sure I had the robot too, but I can't find it. The stuff on >>7004354 seems perfect but looks extremely rare and probably expensive.

Some of the boxed figures seem to have poorer QC on the paint apps than the bagged figures. On the left is a box set Hardball head with a warped hat and wonky eyes. On the right is a bagged Hardball with a non-warped hat and well painted eyes.

The Lamprey Officer is apparently a unique character rather than a troop builder figure. They even give him a file card name. He also comes with a black Cobra Trooper head, so if you ever want a Cobra Trooper as another race before, you have that option here.

DePriest also discusses the new GI Joe movies, and says Hasbro wants to address what elements were missing from the past Joe movies, seeming to suggest that they're not happy with how Paramount had handled the Transformers and GI Joe movies.

He says as much, but seems to say where Hasbro's mind set is, that they're actively trying to do multiple versions of a line at once, such as how their's both movie and comic based figures for Marvel Legends. DePriest says the line would mainly be focused on classic Joe and occasionally do movie shit to cross promote the line and get brand awareness for kids, but that Classic Joe would be needed for series longevity. Hence the greater push for brand synergy with the Transformers lines and Movies, trying to make everything much more G1 oriented.

I've got two, the main Bastard and Otomo, and I like both quite a bit. The base Prospect is very articulated and a fun little figure on its own. The combined robot is also good, and the motorcycle looks like a pretty solid cycle.

I care not for ML sized GI Joes. I collect a lot of 6" sized figures, but i have thousands of 1:18 scale figures and will continue buying in this scale in a far larger quantity because they're so much easier to play with.

If they want to go for a collector driven series, i would pay extra for better bodies. Give me Acid RAin or Microman type articulation. stick on some dot matrix faces/weathering on them so that they look less toy-y. a simple matte spray does a ton in making a toy look nicer, especially HAsbro stuff that is already super detailed.
I'll gladly pay a premium for better figures.

And it better be better than Pursuit of Cobra, because that's what i expect from standard figures.

From a Joecon panel. One of the designers discussed how one of the Sgt. Savage vehicles, he went to a toy store and bought a Jurassic Park vehicle and cut parts off of it and glued some new pieces on it and made a new vehicle for the line which ended up at market for even cheaper than the Kenner vehicle had retailed for.

Another interesting tid bit from Joecon, apparently there was going to be these snap on armors with mechanisms that activated masks and weapons and stuff to spring out, which the Star Brigade figures were intended to use to fight the Manimals in the cancelled 1995 series. Kenner went and repurposed the armor for their Star Wars line.

Eh, I realize that. I'm just griping because if the Club weren't a bunch of greedy, lazy, short-sighted fucks we probably would have gotten a lot more stuff we wanted and not have to waste figures on in-jokes. They could have done a new headsculpt for Headhunters at any point the past couple of years, in FSS or elsewhere, and could've done Headman(who frankly you CAN have without Headhunters, because they're just grunts). Now there's zero chance of that happening.

I realize some people think the Club is great, like finding any water in the middle of the desert is great, even if it's half camel piss. But they're just awful and the fact that they're done is bittersweet in the sense that we can't get any new stuff for a long time, but at least we won't have to deal with their fucking nonsense anymore.

Nah, there's a lot of autismos with imaginary delusions about what the Club can do. Hasbro personally said their killing the Club and that they'll never give you the same amount of exclusive figures not even with a Haslab, because it's too much work and the production numbers would be so low. They said that they'd only do 1 or 2 exclusive figures a year. And good luck, because it'd be shit like the cardboard Cobra set with no new characters in it.

If you average out how much Boss Fights shit costs against the 13 figures you get from the Club, it's about the same, and potentially less. Not only that, but the Club was more timely than Boss Fight and could crank out 13 figures for an FSS, a 15 figure con set, convention exclusive figures and vehicles, a comic book, and a subscription incentive figure each year. How many new figures does Boss Fight do a year? The Club was averaging 28+ a year.

Articulation-wise they're probably on par with the Marauders and Joes. Less than a SHF.

For durability I'd rank them Marauders, Joes, SHF, Acid Rain.

I think there's a few reasons for this
Usually, men are expected to be rougher-looking and there were times when rugged men with scars and stuff were considering the hottest stuff ever. Then as time went on, people's tastes changed and emo men and metro men became more popular
This is kind of true with women too, there's a lot more people who prefer skinny, flat-chested or chubbier women over the typical bombshell
When it comes to making a toy, a dude that ends up with a rough-looking face is just seen as normal and appealing to people who still enjoy that type. And when a female toy ends up a bombshell, then that's the same thing
For what it's worth, there's toys out there that try to represent those other types of beauty and plenty of people enjoy those. A lot of anime figures present male characters as prettier, more effeminate types and some lines present women as rougher and more masculine. There's even been some slow paving the way towards body and face types that would usually fall into a "fetish" like fatter characters or really weirdly stylized and proportioned ones; 3A announced some of those not too long ago, I think.
Another thing to consider is that people on the internet tend to always exaggerate problems, especially here on 4chan and from personal experience, most complaints about a toy's "attractiveness" tend to come from errors in paint apps or particularly poorly done sculpts rather than judging their appeal the same way you would an actual person's beauty
Just my 2 cents

Because those stories are aimed at men who don't get laid. This is one of the basic points SJWs make. They're upset that everything seems to be aimed at horny men and teenage boys. So they try and push for something that women might like, and the horny men and teenage boys get all butthurt because it's no longer catering to them and start screaming "feminism!" etc etc etc.

The thing is the SJWs started out on the fringes(they were relegated to tumblr for god's sake) but douche guys made SUCH a crybaby stink that progressives working in mainstream media(most good artists being progressive) started feeling adversarial towards them and pushed for more SJW stuff in their mainstream work and it became a fucking war. That's basically what happened with GamerGate. It all started with shitty SJW indie games no one played that got dragged by gamers too loudly and got so much attention that it started affecting AAA games because both sides kept escalating the rhetoric.

So now we've got SJW shit all over the place ruining a lot of cool shit but frankly I have to blame the douche bros for making it happen. SJWs would've been fringe forever like furries if no one had given them any attention.

Holy shit, I'm soo glad I didn't get one. I got all the figures but passed on this. There were also a ton of QC issues with the box set. Jacked up feet, two of the same hands or feet. Missing neck ball joints, missing accessories and other shit. Not to mention the missing paint apps on Blud and the Lazer viper heads that affected every Bix set. I got lucky and just had the Blud/L.V. issues. The good thing his the club is shipping fixed heads to everyone that purchased a box set. So an extra Blud head ain't too shabby.

Yeah, It's my favorite repaint of the figure. It was the only Viper that I could get back in the early 90's and you didn't see them much at all back then, perhaps because they cost a few bucks more than a regular figure since they had the backpacks that made noise. The figures were like $5 when the regular Joe figures cost between $2-3.

How am I making this up? What does BFS have to do with this? My buddy and a guy in line showed me the defect. The figure had a neck but the neck was missing the round ball. It was just a cone and the head was just laying on top.

They're putting out like over 50 new figures this year, and in the past used to put out over 28-30+ figures a year, a number that Hasbro said was insane at the recent con and said that now that Hasbro's ended Joecon, we may only get 1 or 2 exclusive figures a year... if they feel like it. I don't really think you can consider it a limited run based solely on an individual figure getting produced in smaller numbers when you have so many other figures also being produced at the same time, so I'm inclined to cut some slack as long as the heads that were missing paint apps get replaced from this year's con set.

The fact is, even big companies don't put out that much product and they have QC issues. How many 50th figures were fucked up? How many Renegades Scarlets? I know I never got one that didn't have fucked up paint on her face. What about the arms on 50th Flint? Or the backpack on the 50th Eel that snaps on each and every one? Or 50th Zartan sometimes have two of the same arm? Or figure builds that are completely useless like 50th Spirit, who can't even hold his rifle in decent poses on account of the vest and arms they gave him?

The only major issue I've seen with this year's con sets was missing paint apps, which the Club at least is correcting by mailing out new heads. As to the Snake Armor, even in it's glued state it is still usable. For some reason the factory thought it needed to be permanently assembled.

And speaking of figures from JoeCon, I just got in the mail my Sonic Fighters Tunnel Rat and Lamprey Officer, and both are very nice. I'd like to buy maybe two more Lamprey's just to have some Sonic Fighters Lampreys as troopers.

Some of us don't want off brand knock-offs and literal who's. That's like saying there's alternatives to Marvel Legends because DC and Star Wars Black Series exist.

These other 1:18 figures are certainly nice supplemental figures, but ultimately I and I'd gather a lot of other people want Joe and Cobra figures.
