Search through your local gumtree/craigslist/ebay for cheap second hand sets to pick up locally. I got two SW battlepacks mint in box for 5 Euros a piece that way, plus loads of older lego over the years

This was my haul this week. It was seriously like christmas. The upper half boxes are unopened. The bins are stuffed full of minifigs and half built sets.

The question is whether they're actually being sold at those prices. From my kijiji experience, MB tends to be either greatly under- or over-valued, with no middle ground really. The Shortsword is a great set, not sure if it's great enough to be worth more than original retail even MIB, considering they were still leveling up their parts quality at the time. You could get lucky and find a collector needing one but I dunno about getting a hundred for it.

from a minifig pack of King of Glory characters. It's some Chinese MMO. These are pretty decent quality and an okay source of weird parts, both recolors and original, like this blue hood and robots.

Thanks! It's one of my favorites too. I changed it up a little since I took that picture, mainly replacing the back thrusters with some upgrayedd ones.

The antennae and dish can rotate obviously

The cab compartment comes off and there's a comfy padded seat and space on both sides to put your briefcase.

The head is actually Hikaru's from Exo Force and the body from the Hulkbuster Ultron figure.
The thrusters on the back are the shoulders from a Nexo Knights squirebot attached to a 1x2 plate with handle and the gun is made of various crap like a rollerblade, a NK spider and one of those new Ninjago blades.

So, there's a store near me selling pic related for 60 euromonies, should I go for it? I've been wanting a large floatable Lego boat for a while and the design on this probably looks like the best one integrated into a unitary hull yet, but I watched the Jang review and he seems to have some valid complaints about the set as a whole?

They also had pic related for 30, took it home yesterday and I'm surprised at how much it actually grew on me. The sheer amount of detail around most of the body and the fact that they actually have a proper cockpit / canopy section rather than just a large pre-molded piece really makes me want more coast guard sets to go along with it on a nice cozy display-

Don't take Jang as the be-all end-all, I find he tends to be way too apologetic for LEGO.

60 Bucks is a very decent price for that set, and at that price I would get it purely to sell a few years down the line. It has two floating hulls since that's your thing, 7 decent figs, but the building is rather lacking.

People don't seem to realise that these are based on two different renditions of the vehicle, the 2008 set is based on the Clone Wars version which looks like pic related and was way bigger. The new one is based on the live action version and both are pretty good renditions of the vehicle

Its a real monorail this time. A beam two studs wide and two bricks tall. New bogies that wrap around it and clip into a standard train plate. The roller coaster super set was their test to see if the market would buy a 500€ monorail set.

Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

I remember growing up in the 90s, castle lines would always leave me with tons of kings and like one peasant. I think it was worst with the Fright Knights, where that Batlord came with almost everything.

I guess the theory is that if a kid is only going to buy a couple sets, you want to guarantee they get the important/interesting characters.

I am going to make my own passenger cars with old style windows and the train bases I salvaged from my old 90s Hogwarts Express. The actual train looks fine (better than the 2011 one in some aspects desu), the coal wagon could be longer. It's fixable but like every set I would never buy at full price and will wait for a steep discount but I sure expected better. Really wished they would have just copied the 2011 set with improved style.

The dragon is litteraly a built Orc beast from old Megabloks Dragons line.

As for graphicdesign I agree they are neat looking.

I think he's very cute, but kind of gave up already when i heard about it. It's mostly the printed tile that is kinda neat, but not worth the hassle or aftermarket prices imo.

I dont even usually buy lego anymore, i only got him because i love the older minifig designs and think he looked cute. I also bought the 10$ jungle set with the croc while i was at wal mart, so i gave him the machete and i call him slasher cop. Im going to watch sgt kabukiman later because of him.
