>>7032950>But it should. Everything should be better when the price is higher.I don't disagree, but I'm so used to getting cheap accurate sculpts from Hasbro and other companies.
It's not some elite or rare thing, because any start up can do an accurate thing without any experience.
However, Hot Toys don't always have accurate sculpts, but the paint is always top notch. So it just makes even poor sculpts look great and, for that, you're getting your money's worth.
Good paint apps are expensive and we've seen how companies are skimping on them even today. It's why that "face printing" take taking off, because that's just a simple sticker that takes the place of quite a few paint apps. However, as we've seen with Figuarts, not using more paint apps makes them look fuzzy and low resolution. So you can't really skimp here, hence companies like Hasbro and DC Collectibles using them in conjunction with regular paint apps. A more costly effort, but it looks better for it.
It doesn't look as good as real paint apps though, so you still have companies like Mezco, Hot Toys and other premium brands continuing the traditional paint app mode.
Anyway, i can justify shit just because i like it. That's it. I've been thinking about stuff like OP's Figma, but why should i buy it? Whats its articulation like? IS it better than NECA, who has been producing a ton of Predator toys? There's a ton of Predator figures i can buy for ~$25, so it better do something different and better.
So I'm waiting until it gets released to decide if it's worth it or not.
And that's how it is with so many lines. I can easily overlook all those Star Wars toys being released right now if they're not done well. Black series, Figuarts, Mafex, etc. I can choose whichever does the character better and its cost really isn't a factor for me. If no one can do it well? Well, I can wait, because it's fucking STar Wars and they'll all eventually get remade.
