I always wanted dirt/dust cloud type explosion effects, but I think the first release dust explosions look pretty bad and they really wasted an opportunity by fully painting them. So the vf2ss nex is just a slight redeco with a new leg armor for holding a new hand held rifle, right? I'm not too familiar with macross 2 but was there a third unit to make a trio? Its arms don't really peg into its legs due to a unique configuration of them where the arms sit in normal valk mode but the legs are in FAST Pack position, making you rely on a somewhat fiddly and iffy connection provided via pegs sort of hooking into the sensors on the arm packs. Plus all the antennas and other pointy bits. Other valks don't have to worry about that unique equipment and are designed to connect together more solidly.

Are the Volks TSFs any good?
Anonymous
>>7030706 I have all of them.
They are very dated, made of PVC. Some of the earlier don't have bicep joints. Their full paint and sculpts are super gorgeous though.
They are more like poseable statues, but definitely the most gorgeous and most comprehensive product line.
I will say Shiranui Second and Shiranui Ver.2.0 is the best mould in terms of articulation. This is followed by the F-14, F-16 mould and MiG-29(joints are very visible though). The Takemikazuchi and F-15 mould have the worst articulation, which are more like a statue. It is very good looking though. The F-4 moulds are pretty okay.
I personally think the Su-27/37 mould is the best looking and the EF-2000 is the worst looking.
Basically each mould has about 4+ colours each on average.
Other good TSF releases are Kotobukiya's Takemi 1.5 mould, F-22 Raptor and EF-2000 Typhoon.

It was $38 and I used a 20% off coupon to bring it down to a more reasonable $30.40. I can see a couple sellers on eBay offering the Ball on its own for the same $38 or so, but I'd wait for another eBay coupon or something before buying there, as 30-ish feels just right for the Ball.
>>7034182 I'd say Arcadia would be the definitive one right now. Yamato are essentially the same (one minor tampo difference), but it's a little more complicated because you have to ensure you're picking a good Yamato release using the most updated mold; the Arcadia makes things easy since they've released just one Hikaru 1J and it used the most up to date mold. It's an old mold, but it has all the bells & whistles of a perfect transformation valk and still holds up wonderfully imo.
I just looked up the aftermarket price on the Arcadia though, and yikes. I think at this point your best option is to get a Hi-Metal (not "definitive" but still a super fun figure just as

Lads? I think the Unicorn design has finally grown on me the way it should have. I want one. But the yellowing I’ve heard about seems kind of concerning. Entropy comes to all things but I’d love for this to hold up a couple decades like well cared for higher quality plastic can. Is there any particular finish of this mold more resistant? I’ve seen at least one listing on Mandarake for a MB 00 also suffering from some yellowing, and that’s a rather recent figure. It seems rather unfortunate that these premium figures, can be so preservation sensitive for its condition. On the other hand, I’ve never even heard of RD yellowing. Not surprisingly though- the lines just too new to expect that IMO.

>>7051550 I like the green, but I'm all for more Kai variants! A Kai in the Capital Defense Battalion's white scheme would be awesome.
>>7048686 Stand aside, how do you like Laevatein itself and its other accessories?
Anonymous
>>7017512 of course this is happening
Anonymous
>>7051614 The Laevatein is pretty solid but too bad it didn't come with the decal or anything for the fairy feather. I'd probably buy the booster pack if they release it as a DLC

Got char's gelgoog today. Its nice overall, though I wish they had cut back on a few of effect parts and given us an option part for the metal naginata animation error like they did the 4 claws on the z'gok. I don't think its ever been done on a figure or model and it would have been a much more interesting extra than just more vernier exhausts.
Anonymous

>>7054849 I shiver at the thought of those metal joints coming loose over time.
Anonymous
>>7054875 Those are the same types of joints used on the Hi-Metal R toys and mine have all sayed incredibly tight despite playing around with them at least once a day.
Anonymous
>>7054875 They are using spring-pins as you can see from the pic, it's not that bad.

>>7054849 >transformation really is as seamless as can be That said, I'm surprised that considering how Sentinel liked to add additional machinery, sub-arms to grab the smart gun on weren't a design feature, although, to be fair the transformations happened in space and even in atmosphere it probably had little jets and an automatic alignment system that obviously can't be reproduced on a toy.
>Sophisticated functional beauty, both realism and romance are overflowing. Even now about 30 years after birth, could you understand that the attractiveness of Zeta Plus C1 type I'm tempted to buy a second for waverider displaying and transforming exclusively. Thanks for posting this! It was a great read about my first MRD (although Infinite Justice will arrive first) especially accompanied by StarRingChild and Re I Am
Now... About what I said before about this being a test-bed for giving us a transforming Delta Plus (throw in a transforming Zeta and combiner Ex-S too someday)

It's seriously unhealthy.
Anonymous
>>7055131 Not him, but I can kind of understand the aversion to metal when considering that any metal-on-plastic interface would wear down eventually. It's physics.
Anonymous
>>7055135 Well any toys joints are gonna wear down eventually. Plastic on metal wears a lot less than metal on metal and you still get some of the additional durability on what could be some breakage prone pieces. Hi metal R is a good example, there’s parts on the Valkyries that would easily snap if they were plastic. This zeta is probably going overboard with metal but like the other anon said you’re much more likely to ruin the fragile matte paint they use on ver ka figures transforming it long before the joints give out.
