He's not someone with a balanced perspective on things, so I think it's entirely possible he could come to the conclusion that cheap import toys are competing with American-made hoola hoops or something.
As far as liberal censorship goes, the US isn't even close to that point yet. That's not to say it couldn't, but a lot of American liberals are geeks and nerds and tumblrites who would throw an absolute bitchfit if their interests were attacked. The people advocating for anime censorship are few and far between and ridiculed, and I've never seen anyone even suggest an import toy ban. Maybe that's different in Europe.
