Probably SHF for me, they look more poseable and they're a more manageable size, not to mention better QC and nicer faces (IMO). Some of the SCs do look good though- their MK figures look great.

I prefer the faces, especially on the female characters- SCs try to go for realism but sometimes just end up looking tired (Chun-Li being the worst example). The Figuarts all look instantly recognizable as the characters and look nice, even if they aren't pixel perfect to one particular game model.

Anything she can do, there's characters that can do it better. You should probably know that infiltration can make juri look from bottom 5 to mid tier. He's won more than one major with her. You can make her work in online and maybe in locals but in tournaments there isn't any serious players outside of one or two in japan that main juri and do well with her except for infiltration because the comittment is way to big when there's infintely better options.

While you’re definitely making your life harder choosing Juri over some of the higher tiers, unless you are really aiming for the pro circuit it doesn’t really matter which character you choose. Be good enough and you can beat 99% of online warriors. Juri has some nice mix ups shinannegans that can outplay people that aren’t completely up on the matchup. I main Juri and Cammy, the former I actually want to be good at, the latter is my brain dead autopilot when I can’t be assed to make the effort.

I just wish they had a bit better neck articulation, so Ryu and Ken could look up and down, and I also wish Ken's feet weren't so limited by the ends of his pants.

And then other collector companies started producing toys that looked like they came out of the licensed series, because companies started putting more effort into their toys, raising the standards for all collector lines and what collectors should expect from their toys.

Generic looking designs like SOTA's should be a thing of the past.

Yeah, limited posing (acceptable for the time) aside the SOTA stuff looks pretty good. Some of the females look a bit derpy but MOST of the characters look great and the sheer volume of characters was awesome. Honestly I think they're fine as place-holders- not incredible by modern standards from an engineering standpoint but aesthetically most of them hold up.

You're right.

They only developed their super distinctive style near the end of the SF2 revamps, moving into the Zero / Alpha series.

Y'know, the SAME distinctive style used for Darkstalkers, X-men, Marvel and even Rival Schools.

It only got upgraded in SF 4.

They're using the same style as you see in the game. Whether the expression is exact or not doesn't matter, because it looks like it came from (and maybe it did) the computer model.

Lots and lots of toys/statues are out there praised for their adherence to matching an artist's style, yet you're so autistic you're saying it's not a match because the expression isn't exact.

The head shape and overall structure is fine, it's just the eyes are really stretched out, bordering on almost looking too anime. Just look at the render it's meant to be based on and his eyes are lined up properly whereas the Storm headsculpt has it stretching out with the furrowed brow dragging the rest of the eyes down center. I don't recall Heihachi having this problem either, especially upon first impression who looked downright perfect.

That's not what I'm referring to. Even in those renders where the red of his left eye looks borderline black, the eyes are still far smaller in volume and overall shape, both in the iris and the white of the sclera.

It's not a dealbreaker, but it makes him look unintentionally cartoony.

I've always been partial to Jin as my fallback character because I started playing with Tekken 3, but my true loves are Kunimitsu and Eliza.

They're the face of the franchise and the entire lore and "main plot" is based around them and a corporation owned and named after them
Don't get me wrong, I'd take plenty of other Tekken characters before them but it's a no-brainer for Storm to go for the Mishimas instead
If we're lucky they might go for the extended Mishima/Kazama family and we'll get Jun, Asuka and Kazumi

I want some of the girls too but it is completely understandable that Rugal would come before them.
The only one I am surprised they haven't jumped on is Mai since she is the Chun Li of her series.
Mai is probably my least favorite KoF girl and I wouldn't buy her but most fans would jump on her in a second.

Hard to tell from a low quality photo, but the sculpt is honestly not "fine" in my opinion. It's too long, they put huge bags under her eyes, and the nose/cheeks makes it look like she's smelling something bad. It just looks blatantly unattractive and old, whereas the in game model is pretty and youthful

Their entire line in general still needs a ton of improvement. Scale is garbage, which I guess can't be fixed now cause they're so far in. They rely way too much on rubber, which ruined Shao Kahn and the neck articulation of every figure they release. The joints are bulbous and don't get much range. And their faces are usually too puffy or way off the mark.

I was just really hoping they'd get it together by the time they released that Chun Li cause I love that costume and I don't see another articulated version of the character being released. Guess I'll be buying the statueshit

My biggest beef is that they had the perfect opportunity to release a fresh new line and just squandered it buy making the 2385th Ryu and 48573th Cammy.

R.Mika is the only release in this entire line that shows any kind of intuitive thinking.

SC's style for their figures is mostly on model and the only reason people like you make a big deal out of eyes is because you're butthurt another company is making the same toys as your favorite company.

This is why people need to shoop it to exaggerate the features to say it's bad. even then, it's still on model.

I'd have to actually be autistic to expect perfection from a sculpt and paint job. I've always said it just has to be "good enough" and having a line or two that off would be nitpicking.
In person, the figure looks good. Even in that photo it looks good and you can see some puffiness under the eyes, but not everything is perfect. The eyes are also slightly elongated too, but it's still looks like they copied the game's art style.
You can tell which game the toy is based on, even when you ignore the costume they're wearing, because they were able to do a good job at copying the design.

And that's some major projection you got going there to say a company is my favorite just because I don't think they're doing a bad job or even praise their work.

It's almost a non-sequitor, but there's a small bit in logic and that makes you all the more sadder for you viewing it that way because you're that extreme.

For me it means "Does it look like it came from the specific game? Good enough"

Also, checking it out today, you can definitely tell that the eyes are sculpted in and aren't just hollows, hence the "Bags"
