As for Pledge being simpler, I don't know about that. I can't talk of the practical aspects, but when I did my research to get some , I found out there's several version of Pledge, different brand names depending on countries, nearly identical bottles for different products (some kind of scrubber that had no effect as a thickening agent), that kind of shit.
Pledge might be better for figures, since it's thinner, but I only use it for models, so I don't see a reason to not use nail polish.
