What are /toy/'s opinions on Beyblade?

I liked them as a kid but didn't get to play with them much. A few days ago, I stumbled upon some and bought them on a whim. Now I've got to say I'm a bit hooked. They're fun to use and hypnotizing to watch, and the engineering behind them is also quite fascinating.

Most of toy is okay with it. However, there is this one guy who will shit on it at any given opportunity(I think he might be a B-Damanfag). I was in a similar boat to you, once. I didn't have many of the originals, so when Metal Fight came out, I got as many of them as I could.

Why are these remakes so damned expensive? I'd love to have them, but they're like $40. That's more than enough to get held in customs where I live.

I'm not importing yet, but if I wanted those two packs in particular, my only option would be to import from the US to Europe.

The Takara TOMY ones are expensive because they were either WBBA limited editions or Random Booster exclusives.
With any luck, you shouldn't have to import from the US. The Hasbro ones should be coming to Europe this year. You could also try getting a middleman from the WBO.

I fucking wish Beyblade had a proper "local sightings" forum like TFW2005 has for Transformers. The Beyblade community is too retarded to organize something like that, I guess.

Not only do I miss some of the crazy-ass gimmicks of the original Japan only Beyblades (like the fucker that would actually jump in the air when hit), but also the transforming ones. Best were the deluxe “dual frame” ones where the metal ring folded into a skeleton to snap the armor onto to make the beast. Back in the day, I managed to snag all but the Draciel

They were heavilly retooled for safety reasons; weaker spring in the jumping one (which didn’t get wide release) and the little transforming Beyblades were remolded so you couldn’t use them in a launcher. They switched some pegs around so it couldn’t be assembled like the Japanese one, it stacks with the wrong bits on top. Plus, we only got a few dragons and maybe one late release Griffon mold

I was really into Metal Fight Beyblade, having been a fan of the first generations ones. Had a pretty big collection, some of them were even imported.
I wanted to get hype for Beyblade Burst but I wasn't crazy about the Burst gimmick and going back to plastic on plastic battles which seems like a step down from metal on metal. Also the Hasbro release make their Beyblades not compatible with the Japanese ones, so if you were really serious you would have to buildup a separate Hasbro and Japanese collection. Also I don't know why, but the Hasbro releases seem really expensive to me and they don't really go on sale. The Metal Fusion Beyblades didn't cost this much and you could sometimes get them on big discounts. This all made it hard for me to really get into it.

What's up with these? Why are they so rare? You'd expect nostalgia bait to be a big deal, but they're nowhere to be found. Can't even find them on ebay. I want that Draciel so bad.

Is there any way to keep track of releases in Europe? Is it something that can even be known? Considering how limited they are, I feel like even if I try checking random physical shops, I'll miss them.

The Dragoon/Dranzer dual pack is $15 on Hasbro's toy shop site. They also have the latest Switchstrike wave with free shipping. I got Lunior R3 (Nightmare Longilus) for $13 shipped.

Rubber is there to increase drago's grip to the other bey when touching it, and with it steal more spin.

Needs two tops in opposing spin directions, like two gears. The rubber helps absorbing shock. Then there is some math involved regarding rotation speed, mass and all of that, and I don't understand a lick of it.
