It's basically a building toyline, you can think of it like Lego but more organic-looking and sci-fi themed. Figures are released via drops, so follow the Onell blog or this thread and show up on time to buy stuff. If you want to give it a try right now, go to the Wiki link in OP post and see what's currently available. Onell is the "main" company, but Matt, the creator, pretty much allows free usage of his joint system so a ton of sister companies have sprung up.

Being a building toyline, figures are of course highly customizable, and they are also heavily customized in the sense of people making third party parts/paintjobs/etc for them.

I dig this build a lot, makes me regret passing on that Pheyden. The chest tampos really look good with the washed Rift Killer parts. Also, if the socket is loose, try either freezing the part in question, or simply leave the socket empty and unused for a few weeks. Glyos PVC is pretty pliable stuff and empty sockets definitely seem to tighten up over time in my experience.

Thanks, but it's straight up split along some panel lines. The rest of the RK has plenty of material around the sockets, so they're in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. I might try covering it up with some clear superglue or something to save the arm.

Worst case, I just have the rest of the figure's parts to work with.

What kind of luck would I have dip-dying some of these parts in Rit or something like it? I'm thinking of turning the gray Callgrim into a dark color with high saturation, like a deep deep purple.

Current Rit doesn't work on PVC. You need to track down the old stuff (pre-2013 batches IIRC)

Yeah, but it doesn't have to be Godbeast approved/sanctioned to run it. Which it wouldn't anyway, but for some reason Matt acts like Marty owns translucent red and won't run it. So, we have to get cranberry/raspberry/strawberry shades as those are deemed different enough to Matt to not infringe upon the Godbeast pwnage of infection red.

That was the commonly known fact in the Glyos community, but someone in a different thread a few months ago told me RIT Dye More (intended for synthetic fabrics) may work. As usual, it requires heating on the stove, so keep very careful watch on your parts to make sure they don't warp or shrink.

I'm honestly tired of Infection. It seems boring to me now, I don't even display my Infection squad anymore. Only reason I'm even keeping them is because basic translucent red is a useful color to have around to mix into builds.

Xycoss is a more interesting and fresh shade and I'm glad that's what we're getting instead.

I tried to make it- Basically, a couple of the parts can't be made without stretching a vinyl peg through a vinyl port the opposite way from what's intended, and I'm pretty sure some bits are just held in by friction. Check out the Armodoc head at the bottom for an example. The whole thing's just an unfathomable mess to try and build, which is a real shame.

Don't listen to this guy, you can do anything with vinyl if you heat it up with a hair dryer. The vinyl hardens up over time so any glyos vinyl at this point will likely need some help to really build. Vinyl is meant to be stretched and many of my favorite and functional builds rely on non traditional connection points. Try again, it's easier than you're making it sound.

Oh forgot to add that it's very difficult to actually damage the vinyl. I've only had one vinyl bit tear out of hundreds (5 minutes after I had it) and matt replaced it without me even asking. I stretch and push the vinyl to it's limits and unless you're exacto cutting something (also helpful in builds, get creative) it will always return to normal.

There's a way to de-yellow clear and white plastic. You get a bunch of 3% hydrogen peroxide(usually $1 for a small bottle at Walmart but you need enough to cover all the pieces) and some oxiclean (just a teaspoon) and put these all together in a clear tub(preferably glass) and leave it outside in the sun all day. It will leach out the mineral that makes plastic yellow. Did it with a bunch of my old LEGO from the 80s and it worked PERFECTLY. They were like brand new.

There are usually little circular spots that are meant to be cut out and used as ports. You could also cut into other, less obvious sections. Check out Flatwalker on the Onell blog for an example of the latter.
I’ve exacto knifed little hatches into vinyl blocks to stash figures in before.
I’m not a big vinyl guy. Not enough bang for the buck for me. But it has options for customization that don’t exist in pvc.

Matt showed off cut up vinyl multiple times back when he was still putting it out regularly. I do it often and most commonly utilize slits that can take pvc parts but when removed are barely noticeable. Turning cockpits on the rig and the reverse super crayboth into something that opens and is functional is fun too.

Pic related is one of my builds that has a couple non traditional connections going on, in the arms the crayboth waist piece is pushed on OVER the connection port of the Titan mushi limbs. And then on the foot area the mushi feet are used as clawed heels and and shoved in using nothing but creative friction and support the weight of the entire figure without ever coming undone. It's still together over a year later and I can bash it around and drop it on the ground without anything coming apart.

There's a whole bunch of shit going on here too, but the most important is one of my favorite go to's, building a PVC chasis that goes into the vinyl like a skeleton. There's bits in the chest going down to the waist and extend down to both arms that are all connected for stability.

Yeah I'm sorry man all I've got is a phone. I don't exactly have control of my F-stop or my ISO settings or macro mode or anything like that. Best I can do is auto white balance, crop, and then resize it so it's under the file limit.

I own the Xycoss Rift Killer, so I took a close look at it for you.

1. The right bicep on mine is perfect all the way around, no signs of splits or tears. However...

2. ...the fact that it's clear plastic also allows me to see that the plastic is VERY thin around the joint peg, which may possibly lead to tearing over time (so be careful when swapping forearm pieces, everyone).

3. This could also be an isolated incident with the teal Rexes, since that's the figure both of you happen to have. Maybe a factory fuckup or something. I checked the forums to see if anyone else had reported issues, but the damn thing actually moves so slow now that there are barely any Rift Killer mentions at all, much less complaints.

In any case, please, please, please, ONE of you take a good, in-focus photo and contact Jesse and/or Matt about it. This may lead to better QC or fixes for the future.

Nah, I got Teal and noticed it split when I was building Punchmans, after I'd ordered Rex. Rex isn't split but there's a pinhole in the arm just above that rim.

I'll try to take some better pictures in daylight then. I hope this isn't widespread. I read that some of TGB's Nemeses had a problem with brittle feet due to cold conditions during shipping in the winter so I'm hoping it's just me with bad luck twice here.

From what I can tell, the left arms look okay but they're pretty thin. The leg sockets seem to have plenty of material around them so I don't think they're in any danger.

My teal guy has it as well, it's only the second KOTS figure I've bought(the other was a vector from Matt that I sold because it sucked so much) and while I do genuinely like the look of this figure(fully painted, teal with orange highlights, etc) I'm not at all surprised to see a weak joint. The QC on the original KoTs figure mold is the worst I've encountered in glyos.

For the record, I was the dude who started Timmsposting, and my reasoning for starting it was to get more attention to the fact that he's just a plain old dick sometimes, and not even in a reasonable sense like in this thread. He bitches about not getting freebies and then posts up the stowaway Crayboth, he claims to have been hounded by someone for thanking them for a giveaway without posting any evidence, and he just has a passive-aggressive attitude in general. It's a shame, really. His instagram is decently nice, save for the complaint posts, but once you know who's behind it, it's harder to enjoy.

You mean back when we had the Octobertoys forum? I can't think of anyone specific I miss, but I do miss the sense of community and just meeting and talking with people. The discussion here is generally fine but it definitely doesn't feel friendly or close-knit, and the new forums are downright depressing with how slow and infrequently they move.

For a while he was fine, posting builds and making customs like a lot of guys. Then he started scalping or trying to, buying or getting pieces on commission, posting a ton of pics about how it was the greatest thing he owned, and then attempting to sell said things a couple of weeks later for big money. He'd also sell figures that just sold out a week earlier for 5x the price, or buy rare figures from people and try flipping them.

All of this is well and good but the real fun came when he tried to get the guy who sculpted the armorvor and special heads to sculpt something for him so he could get in on the toy making side of glyos. He specifically told Jason not to tell or go through Thegodbeast because he didn't want Marty selling his mold and making money off casts of his idea and shit talked him. Jason is good friends with TGB obviously since they work together so much, so he told him about this retard. And TGB and Jason told him to fuck off and weren't doing anything for him, and neither was anyone else in the toy making side of glyos.

So he quietly raged for a while posting passive aggressive comments and shit every time he popped up on the forums, until one of the cons when he knew everyone big would be away from the forums, he posted a bunch of autist rage and kept going on about what pieces of shit everyone was and how no one knows his life or how many purses he has to buy his wife(this actually happened). Kent banned him after this, IIRC the only person banned from the glyos forums.

Something that's hard to describe is the initial few years of glyos- the sense of community was really special. The toys were great and everyone was so nice. There wasn't a need to feel trapped by the kindness of the forum yet- we've heard for a long time people here say that they come here because everyone is too nice and you can't criticize the line and that's true. But for the first several years it was too new to be criticized, it was just a cool and mysterious toylines that anyone who tried knew was special. It was before any big splits or controversial decisions happened- molds weren't retired, there was no detail lines vs no detail lines debate, people weren't bitching about no vinyl and KOTS because none of that had happened yet. So for a while, I'd say at least 3-4 years, it was inarguably the greatest toy fandom around.

Mechabon is a masterpiece and my favorite new mainline glyos mold since 2011. I know it's roboforce but considering Matt does most of the work on these I think it still qualifies.

It has so much build potential and lots of character and charm packed into the shapes and pieces, and despite being a bit of a gobon update actually has tons of new and unique parts and concepts(vs something like the Villser which felt like a massive retread with no real innovation). It's exactly what I want out of new glyos molds and can't wait to get some more.

That sounds like most fresh toy fandoms, believe it or not even Matty Club's He-man line had a similar innocence at it's start. All that happens really is that the new toy smell wears off and the company making them starts changing up due to either sales or lack of sales. It sucks but it's life. It's also worth noting that gaming communities have starts like that too, what you painted is what Minecraft started as back when it was just beta freeware but overtime changed.

Evidently the stubby arms at the bottom aren't just for show. They keep the torsos from rotating under the weight of the big cannon arms. The rotation between the Mechabon's torso and the waist ring is pretty loose. Makes me wish it had a unique connection more like the original Gobon.

Any of you buildfags wanna give me a hint at how these feet are built? I'm guessing the toe part is a hub thigh, and the upper boot is half of an axis joint, but what the hell is the ankle? Is the camera playing tricks on me? I figure it's half of the smaller axis joints but if it's true then the foot doesn't actually sit flush with the ground and that is UNACCEPTABLE! Also, build ideas in general would be nice since I have a bunch of hubs and phase arms coming.

It indeed appears to be half a small axis joint attached to half a large axis joint. It probably does not sit flush, but if both feet are on the ground and the hip joints are bent back it might still be able to stand.

Y'know, something occurred to me today. People shit on the KOTS articulation all the time, but they really have very similar articulation to a Traveler. Why the double standard? Is it because KOTS look more like a "proper" humanoid action figure so people expect more from it? I mean, they have about as much build potential as a Traveler too...which is to say, I typically just use the torso and build custom limbs on top of it.

Honestly, I've never heard much praise for the traveler's articulation. It's definitely decent, for how seamless the figures look, but not great by any means. The traveler, to me, seems like Onell's take on the traditional action figure with customization options like swappable heads/hands, rather than a build-focused toy line such as Lego. I suppose the beauty of Glyo, though, is that with a good imagination, you can make great builds with just about any figure.

Travelers are purposely designed like old fashioned 80's figures and why their articulation is so limited. They're intended for display. Buildmen on the other hand are specifically tailored for customization and use of axis joints.

And on a side note, why is it that Onell uses those awkward diagonal joints instead of a traditional one? It's odd that a smaller figure like those from Mega Bloks would have far more articulation.

I always loved the faceless grunt dudes more, actually. It's miles easier to create your whole own character when there's a blank slate to project onto. Master Chief can only ever be Master Chief, but a nobody Spartan in a unique color of armor was always something that captivated me.

Axis joints give basically the same range of motion as a swivel hinge joint, but also give wonderful options for building that a swivel hinge would not. I've never seen any joint like it before or since, it's one of my favorite parts of Glyos. They are just so versatile, and if I had to pick just one joint type to work with, it's axis every time.

Enough about jizz for a minute there's something else that really grinds my gears, the obsession with peddling contained builds as a good thing. Contained builds are largely shit and come from a place of such poorfag mentality that I can't stand. Every single time I see something truly cool made from glyos it's using one piece each from 23 axis sets and parts from 7 different figures just to make some guy that's about 3 inches tall with a profile barely larger than a standard traveller. And in a weird twist of events the creators and sellers of glyos products have embraced the poor side of fandom by catering and pandering to these pathetic fucks by focusing on super awkward builds that look like a healthy combination of nothing in particular and a pile of shit. Hell, one of the reasons glyos is struggling is because of a lack of big spenders in the fandom, yeah there's a few people that spend hundreds+ per drop but for a durable and complex building toy that could attract lego fans and mainly AFOLs, it really doesn't. Piometans was one of the only talented Lego folk to give glyos a go, and after 3 years of almost no new molds and nothing but shitty contained builds forced on people he took a walk.

Back when glyos was growing there were all sorts of crazy fuckhuge builds posted out of nothing but a single pheyden figure. Or when vinyl started happening those massive insane builds and hangar pics. But it's like they've stopped chasing the big fish, the people with money who would like to make something cool, and embraced the poorfag idiots living paycheck to paycheck spending all their spare $70 on toys instead of making sure they have food in the fridge and any kind of future.

God I fucking hate contained builds.

Former list member here, it's completely pointless these days. I got taken off because I don't buy nearly as much as I used to, which is fine, but when it was created glyos was hype as fuck and things were always selling out in minutes. There was genuine worry that you had to be around for drop time and race to the cart because things might sell out in seconds. However it was created right at the tail end of this period and honestly afterwards there's no real benefit outside of letting the people who buy almost every time to set some money aside within the week.

kots does bulk sales of future figs. blind buying the next few waves at once. no showing them off before public sale. rf had a club to pay to join with bonus items offered. no requirement of buying anything each drop. most offered a week early, many do order early anyway cause hardcore joined it. someone like knight of darkness or a classic character sells faster when offered to public. blanks some times sell faster if a good main color like white or black

It's good but not great. It's better than nearly any other toy you'll come in contact with, but building with glyos is harder- as in physically harder -than any other toyline, so the force of constantly tugging and prying away at the figures can wear down the paint. Also if you run around with them in your pocket or in a backpack constantly (people do this because they are small and sturdy compared to most other toys) the paint will wear down this way.

So basically if you're using them just as action figures be it on a shelf or for normal play they are great, they'll look fantastic forever.

If you're building with them a lot(A LOT) it will wear them down eventually, and if you're traveling with them on your person they'll scratch and rub with the best of them.

Just got this eBay lot in the mail. I got a pretty good deal on it, and I'm new to Glyos, so it's exciting to get all of this stuff in the same colorway. I didn't think I'd care too much for the outlander, but so far I'm loving all of the unique head options.

Are there any instructions or back shots of the Pharoid Godbeast anywhere? I just got mine in the mail tonight but I'm having quite a time figuring out how they got the wings on there. Okay I assembled the thing and have this part left over. It's not a contained build now but I'm too lazy to figure out where it goes. Reee. Also the feet being part of the wings kinda throws off the design. I don't get why they didn't have those thigh parts hollow so you could switch pin them but both they and the leg armor are male-male which means that if you omit them the wings are tiny. Double reee.

I’ve done all in, just certain figures, just 1-2 figs and had to pass on drops completely for financial reasons over all the years since he started and he’s never told anyone they had to purchase a certain amount or they’ll be dropped from the list.

To add to this, I don't carry any Glyos around in my pockets, but I have been in the game for over 5 years now, with what I would call a pretty large collection, and I have never personally experienced any paint rub or scratching even after many builds and prying parts apart with my teeth.

It has always seemed like very durable paint to me.

Zullen isn't as fun as an Armorvor as a standalone figure--it's a pretty good lesson in how important angles can be. The Armorvor has identical arm jointing to the Zullen, but due to the subtle tilted angles the limbs are cut at, it's able to achieve different looks and poses with its arms. The Zullen, on the other hand, is pretty much cut straight across, and rotating its arms doesn't change the pose much at all.

Same with the legs/feet.
