The old one seemed to die a while back, and with the SDCC pics going around I figure it's time for a new one. I don't really have any pastebins or stuff like that to pop here but, well, lets hope this works anyways cause I love this line and it deserves a nice thread.

Well, I finally caved and bought some of the reissued sand infantry and a pilot as well. Paint comes right off these guys with the slightest scratch. Any way to seal the paint myself? Really hoping the airborne laurel and its pilot have better qc. Either way, I really like all these figs a lot. Sand infantry looks kind of like umbrella operatives from RE.

Gotta disagree, the b2five stuff is rather high quality and very fun, just because the scale is smaller and weathering detail isn't caked on like an LA prozzies' makeup doesn't mean the scale is dismissable or crap imo

I figured so, but I was hoping for something more specific. Parts of these guys are for sure made of rubber, which is pretty unique. Does rubber degrade faster than plastic?

You basically need to set this shit on fire to know what the /primary/ plastic type it is.

And if the paint is toxicity, it's for the better. Toxic paints were/are used because of how durable they are. Everything else is weak shit. IT's also why electronics are more likely to break today than electronics of the 20th century, because of the switch to safer metals.

Not really a fan of the minifigs, the proportions seem janky to me somehow. Maybe because they seem to be in this uncomfortable middleground between Mega and standard human proportions. The B2Five Laurels are fucking fantastic though, honestly some of my favorite desk toys this year. I think I like them even more than 1/18 Laurels, honestly.

So I just recieved the Buck’s Troop pack. Being a huge Mega fan I expected a severe case if buyer’s remorse, but these guys are amazing. The quality feels good, nis as gummy as people here said, the ab crunch and heel articulation really makes posing easier, the paint is tip notch and above all, these guys exude style. The visual style is very appealing and asian-sci-fi-ish. These are my first jump into Acid Rain and I’ll definately get more.

The only downsides are the price, which is high for what you get and the lack of detail. Mega’s figures also have C hands, but gloves have details and individual fingers, while these guys have just a C, like Lego figures. They really could use mire details in the hands, wrinkles in clothing, boots, laces, etc. I mean, if Mega can do it at a smaller scale in massive productions, I expect it on the AR stuff, specially for the price tag.

Acid Rain takes place in an alternate universe where everyone blew each other up with nukes at the end of WWII. The fighting never really stopped, society crumbled, and the environment became increasingly more polluted and toxic.

The toys themselves are somewhat on the indie side of things (read: expensive), but they're nice for what they are. Acid Rain consists of two separate toylines: the main line, and B2Five. Since you're not really into toys, the easiest way to explain this is that the main line is GI Joe-scale, and B2Five is vaguely Lego-scale.

Anyway, yeah, these might be cool to use as minis for /tg/ stuff, particularly the smaller B2Five line. They're nice toys.

Maybe I'm just refusing to let go of 1:18, but I just can't into the b2five stuff. I love tiny action figures though so maybe I'll bite eventually. I just have a hard time justifying buying into a whole new line of figures and vehicles that I've already spend a bunch on in another scale.

Everything is temporary, senpai; do what makes you happy. If you think the 1:18 line is cooler then buy the releases that interest you.

For the three plus years I've been collecting Acid Rain, I can tell you that I haven't experienced any degradation, or loss of integrity with the material the 1:18 figures are made from. The only issues I've read about involve paint rub on some of the newer releases, and re-releases.

Personally I think “gummy” isn’t an accurate term for it. “Rubbery” would be a better term. It’s only on the hands, head, and the joints connecting the feet and elbows.

I know a lot of people don’t like it but I have zero complaints about it. The flexibility of the hands allow for more forgiving posing when holding weapons and random items as opposed to something stiff and less flexible

The only problem I have with the rubber hands is the fact that the paint chips off too easily on the Sol Commander and Agurts Infantry reissues.

What the fuck is this GARBAGE

The plastic quality is ABYSMAL compared to stronghold and speeder, its shitty and thing and the tolerances and construction are all loose as shit and floppy and the driver can't even hold on to the fucking handles of his seat, hsi hands jsut slip off all the time, and you have to take the weapons off sprues and then full construction required for the entire folding walls assembly, at this pricepoint too when its hardly bigger than the stronghold and made with cheaper thinner plastic.

On the whole, what a fucking letdown, I don't even know if i'm gonna bother assembling the walls to just sell it quick and hope to god they fix the shit new plastic thinness by the time the Omanga stuff comes out.

Get as many as you can. The original run of the Marines were going for over $100 in the aftermarket.

There’s a BST group on Facebook called Nuclear Storm and Marines were one of if not the highest in demand item and people would pounce like vultures and anyone even hinting that that might sell one.

I got two at decent prices but there was a dude who bought 2 for $300 literally the week before the reissues were announced.

They're two separate scales. Oritoy( and now Toys Alliance) produce 1:18 scale figures while B2.Five produces 1:28 scale toys (mix & match play pattern). There may be crossover between character designs used, but they're entirely separate toylines.

The other anon is sorta...right and not right at the same time. Laurels are a pretty bad deal when you compare them to other toylines, but within the Acid Rain line, they're pretty fair. Like, Laurels are around $100-110. That is right between the smaller and less articulated Raptor speeder, and the chunky but again, less articulated Stronghold. Laurels are nice little robot suits and it feels cool to be able to open up the cockpits and have your pilots posed boarding them or chilling with the hatch open after a hard battle.

So, take it as you will. Within the line I think it's a nice piece at a fair price. Outside of the line, it's a tad crazy. I can tell you that it is a solid and fun toy, and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to give one a try and see if you like it. You can probably make most of your money back if you don't, resell value is ok on Acid Rain stuff.

Also, i own multiple laurels, but i like the design. I just think they're super overpriced, and so is teh raptor. the raptor is a straight up rip off.
Only recently got a raptor because of that new pilot and the weapons it came with.

Yeah, no.

I don't know which 3a figures you've bought, but I don't think any of them are going to break on me.
And the raptor is tiny and is a rip off. Laural isn't a rip off, but compared to other lines it isn't all that hot. The only way i can figure out how the Laural isn't overpriced is if you only buy import lines, where asian market toys are overpriced as a rule.
Even then, stuff like Toy Notchs' mechs and their figures are much better value in comparison.

I think I saw some theories that our sunset is more orange like because of the high concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, but can't confirm it at the moment!

Got my airbourne laurel today. I love it so far. The figure that comes with it doesn't have the paint rub issue all my other figs have, which is nice. The hand on the laurel won't rotate, though, and feels like it wants to twist and break. Which do I submerge the hand in, hot or cold water?

Hot is the usual treatment. Hot then cold can sometimes work too, hot makes the plastic expand and cold makes it contract, so this can sometimes unstick parts. Honestly though, I would probably try a hairdryer on low if I were you. A lot of my Acid Rain stuff feels like it might have the powdery type of weathering like ThreeA, so some of that might just wash off in water.

Also, heat will soften plastic a bit, so be careful not to tear the hands, they're made of a softer rubbery type of plastic. Take it slow and careful.

If you want pics, you should check out Acid Rain Base on facebook. I don't have a good camera, but I can give my opinions on it.
The promo pics are a bit less weathered-looking than the one I got, which doesn't particularly bother me at all, although I would have liked to see certain parts (like the "eye" and some of the decals) coming through a little brighter paintwise. The articulation is good aside from the stuck wrist, and I was surprised to find that it balances really well despite the short legs and small feet. Legs are not wobbly at all.
Assembly is pretty easy, but the part at the bottom on the front (with the two thrusters on it) needed to be forced a bit, and it still feels like it might fall off. I think mine has a little extra chunk of plastic on it preventing it from clicking into place perfectly, but that's not a big problem at all because I can fix it. The gun arm comes apart, pretty cool. Parachute is a little tricky to fold (you have to fold it yourself), but I did it no problem.
There's tons of cool little things on it, almost like a little playset. Opening the cockpit makes a little engine block pop out on the back. There are several articulated thrusters. The inside is surprisingly well sculpted and even painted, which I didn't expect. Wiring and pipes, etc.
I immediately took off the visor on the soldier's helmet to confirm my suspicion: this guy is fucking perfect for a doomguy custom. It just needs some sleeveless arms and you're set. Shitty, probably flipped, pic related. Only complaint about the figure is that they got splotchy on his face paint. No paint rub whatsoever, huge relief after my three other figs had it.
