Honestly, I'm all for letting newcomers into the hobby. You just need a backbone to tell them to fuck off if they're not abiding by the original rules.
Its akin to how weeaboos started collecting western licenses because of Japanese toy companies making western characters. Before them, people expected really nice sculpts and good paint. When people mocked the toys these Japanese companies made, they tried to pretend that didnt matter or that everything else is worse. Shitstorms for days.
Most collectors didnt change their standards and everyone forgets about the badly sculpted Japanese toys months later when the shop owners no longer have any stock left, with lessons unlearned and the figures discarded on the BST. So the drama is repeated for the next poor release.
Nothing really changes and most fanbases continue chugging along
