So, why do us grown men fuck around with toys? Do you guys just collect them or play with them? Do your parents/friends know or care? I sometimes collect plastic soldiers to form little dioramas. Sometimes I blow them up with firecrackers. I don't do it in front of anyone else though. Basically, why are you guys on /toy/?

Yes, but im changing my collection habits. I don't really buy toybiz/mattel shit anymore, its just so low quality. I like the 1/12 scale mezco stuff, and im liking what im seeing from damtoys. 1/6 is very picky for me, and I just stopped with joe-sized figures.

My dad disapproves, my friends think its cool, my mom endorses it.

I do like to hear opinions on new figures of characters im a fan of. Sometimes /toy/ is where I get my news.

I like to collect 3D representations of characters and franchises I enjoy. I'm a completionist though so I'll buy stuff just to complete teams even though I don't care about the actual character. Once I started collecting MCU Legends it just snowballed to having character reps from every movie. I have so many fucking Caps and Iron Men. But because of stuff like that I like to recreate iconic scenes from the source material. It's fun.

Oh yeah, my dad isn't a fan of the hobby, or any other of my interests, my brother actually gets me stuff which is cool, and my mom doesn't care as long as I'm not spending too much money on it. My roommate doesn't seem to mind even if it doesn't seem to interest him, and my other friends range to thinking it's awesome to being weirded out by it.

I like to take pictures of them to share via whatever is popular at the time- before it was forums, now it's here and Instagram. I also have some things on display. I'm in the process of making a small toyline as well, but it's an incredibly slow process.

I miss actually playing with toys and every once in a while will try, but just can't get into it imagination wise. I remember what it was like but can't really get there anymore, but I used to love coming up with stories and acting them out with the figures. If I could still do that and be into it how I was as a kid I would.

Everyone in my life knows I enjoy toys, my wife is fine with it, my mom always encouraged it, and my friends know about it as well. In the past 10 years (I'm 29) I can only think of one person who made fun of me for it, and they're a fucking idiot so it's not like it was someone I respect or look up to or liked in any way before hand anyway.

Honestly, smoking a little bit of weed really lets my imagination and sense of wonder come out for an hour or two. Perfect for emulating that childhood mindset, though not for everyone.

I like having representations of the 80's shows/movies I enjoyed as a kid, it reminds me of the good old days. I gave away almost all of my old toys like an idiot as a teenager so I'm sort of rebuying my childhood. Buying these updated versions of the classics is generally cheaper than buying actual vintage stuff that is in good condition, and the modern engineering is a plus.
