Consider that like 200 of those pieces are just the tracks, the total volume of the built ends up being like half of the original. Modern LEGO sets are more detailed, but their part count is artificially boosted by lots of 1-stud or other similar small parts used for grievelling. At least their licenced stuff (in-house stuff I'll admit still has some great value occasionally). And if you like that, that's fine, but even by that metric the modern set is more expensive than the original one, and if you compared the total amount of plastic, you'd probably find that it's even more overpriced.

M:tG has never had a successful toy line, and I don't think LEGO would change that. M:tG is expensive, and no one but kitchen table casuals are gonna shell out for likewise expensive klocki. It's money far better spent on, competitive cards.
This doesn't even cover the fact that the characters the story has focused on for the last decade are even less compelling than the average LEGO character.
Never was into D&D, but it if you blend the Neo-Castle and Fantasy sets with the LotR and a smattering of the Prince of Persia sets, I think you get pretty close to what a LEGO D&D line would be like. Could be pretty cool.
I don't know shit about Overwatch's world-wide popularity to say whether a LEGO is gonna do well or not. Should provide some cool new minifigure parts, though.

Anyone got advice on how to make treads work in LDD? I made my Shadowrun character in LDD for the most part but he has Liminal Body (Tank) which means he needs treads, and I want to make sure the treads don't get in the way of the rest of his body. They're different series with different scopes, it's hard to say one is objectively better than the other. Racers was mostly oriented towards small cutsie fictional Hot Wheels-like vehicles with the occasional Ferrari tie-in at best, whereas Speed Champions is all about real cars made to be compatible with minifigures. Me, personally, I'm a sucker for Porsches and for that alone Speed Champions gets most of my love, but Racers was pretty damn good and nostalgic for early-to mid 00's kids regardless.

It's loosely based on the Lancia Delta Integrale
Features an adjustable wing, openable doors, a roof window for air pressure, louvered rear window, front and rear diffusers and seats two.

A few of the helmets are official, most are courtesy of BrickWarriors, BrickForge and MinifigCat.

Much the same reasons really, the colors are awful (so much trans-anything outside a space or underwater setting), more goofy visors and everything is over-designed (aesthetically, can't speak for sturdiness as none of the sets were worth buying). It is not relatable to any previous castle theme except maybe KKII, whereas all the others can fit together in the same medieval setting (even KKII mostly); it's a something-punk with castle elements at best. Other people like that stuff, doesn't bother me any, just isn't for me.

True, but IIRC the original had less tracks, which is why they didn't worked very well, because the whole track system was very simple.

I doubt it's necessary, even if you couldn't tell at a glance that modern sets are smaller than past price equivalents, you still have the fact that modern LEGO pieces are thinner and use those eco-friendly materials which I believe are lighter. So even if you used modern parts to build an old design it'd be lighter.
Either way my main complaint is about size, not really weight.

This is all subjective, this discussion has been had many times. A lot of AFOLs prefer newer sets because they're more detailed and make better display models, while older sets were often simpler and blockier, but ultimately often bigger. I can't say what kids like but I know that when I was a kid (and now) I always prefered to get more toy rather than more detail.

Good lord, the colours are an eyesore with all that orange, blue and light blue. The shape of the vehicles didn't appeal to me either, though the Fortrex was a nice idea and the last wave had a Land Raider. I'm not really a systemfag so I only bought the battlesuits minus the red one (and I regret it). I really needed the T mixel piece for something I was building and the battlesuits provided.
I'm big on technoknights and I really liked the knights themselves. They had nice armor, visors and printings. The series was also stellar. The baddies had good chemistry, the jokes were witty, the music was nice, and the knights were facing and increasingly dire situation. It certainly beat the hell out of ponies and all the CalArts sewege.

Fright Knights aside, most of these are bland and generic.

My issue is that to me the new one has a Tarantula shape whereas the old one has a more Orb-weaver shape.

The LEGO Group may release a selection of 20th anniversary Star Wars sets in 2019, according to information that Brick Fanatics has received.

Next year will mark 20 years since Star Wars triumphantly returned to cinema screens with an entirely new movie, The Phantom Menace. While it may have been divisive upon release after unprecedented levels of hype, it ushered in a new era of Star Wars that continues to this day. Along with the release of the first movie in a new trilogy, came the release of LEGO Star Wars sets for the first time, which will also be 20 years old in 2019.

Brick Fanatics has received word that to coincide with this anniversary, the LEGO Group will release a special range of sets to commemorate the two decade long Star Wars theme. As well as the usual January launch, an April wave of sets will feature special nostalgic 20th anniversary packaging, using the original LEGO Star Wars logo. Each box will contain a collectible minifigure that replicates the original, yellow faced LEGO Star Wars designs. The sets are expected to be based on vehicles and locations from across the saga.

I got some old pieces with stickers. Most of them cleaned up okay, except for this one that's got some fucking demon goop on it. I've had it soaking in various cleaners for a week, the last two days in Simple Green, and the shit is just not coming off.

Use this. Any adhesive residue that doesn't come off with SG will absolutely come off with Goo Gone. Be sure not to use a paper towel, though. Use an actual cloth rag.

Yes. I was so happy to learn that the CMF with the large rubber hair had an unmarked sweater vest and tie because now I can armybuild the prep school I've been wanting to make for a long time. Loosely (firmly) based on the Jaguar XJ13. Nothing like anything I've built before but it was a lot of fun to put together, went a lot faster than my usual builds as well. Very happy with how the glass section worked out, and I'll probably try doing something like it later.

Maybe it's just because I'm autismo, but does it bother anyone else they didn't make the playset a circle? Like one quarter of it is circular, why not frame the entire playset as a circle and build within it? That way it would actually resemble Cloud City and also have 4 interchangeable modulars.

They should've also made the interrogation room smaller, taken away the Slave and landing pad, made a bigger area for the Luke/Vader duel and given it a more polished snot look in the halls.

Fans have been begging Lego a decade for this. Instead of giving them a model that'll blow their socks off, we get this which is mediocre and a bit of a mess for an overinflated price. It'll probably still sell well, but I'm a tad disappointed.

I think what dissapoints me is the fact that everyone wanted Cloud City because it would be a playset and they're tired of vehicles.

The vehicles ended up being the best designed parts of the set and it seems most would prefer to buy separate vehicles and either have those pieces put into Cloud City itself or to lower it's price.

It's the modern style of "comedy" where they never shut up for a second, which i find unbearable, but it's not as bad as it's made out to be.
Pretending the 2 original movies don't exist also helps.
It's great in terms of production design. I kinda like this Ecto-1 better than the original. The Lego set is pretty good as well.
