Yellowjacket just arrived in the mail yesterday, goddamn, this is a beautiful figure. God, I wish he'd been the Ant-Man BAF back in the day, maybe shove Ultron into a regular slot in one of the AoU waves, replace one of those comics figures nobody gives a shit about.
Yellowjacket has shockingly well articulated stinger arms, after the disappointments I've had lately from big chunky backpacks from Hasbro. He looks mean and proper, like he did in the film. Only minor complaint is he doesn't have a Corey Stoll head but you could easily make one just by painting some random blank head flesh tone.
Speaking of tones, the yellows don't actually match very well from part to part, some of it is more orange and some of it more green, I suspect that's to do with the base plastic they're being painted onto. But the texture work is sublime, in between his yellow hexagon plates he has two different kinds of black plastic, the flat smooth plastic on his legs and most of his arms and a finely stippled texture on his chest and parts of his arms. It really gives him a nice, lively look considering he's just two colors and a visor.
Speaking of the visor, I haven't compared him to close up stills but this looks pretty damn accurate. A little flat in color (again, it's just two colors, black and yellow) but it's immediately recognizable even from just the helmet alone. And his ankles are those simple, rewarding swivel-hinge-swivel setups that let you plant the feet down in any position and he just stands and looks perfect.
Which brings me to the other thing in the box, a movie accurate helmet and Paul Rudd head for your Ant Man 1 figure, and a spare body for it, too. Yeah, the paint's more accurate, but the original was pretty good, and honestly, the mold wasn't exactly great when it came to stability and this new one hasn't gotten any better in that department.
Dat Paul Rudd head tho, goddamn. Hasbro knocked it out of the park for likeness. Neutral expression, too, not as meme-y.
