Charles was arrested and charged with burglary and two counts of battery.

Though the figurine typically costs $10, if it it has a certain sticker, it be sold for around $150 online.

Has any Japanese imported figures ever caused such a similar incident, both in Japan, china, and the west, I'm honestly curious?

Advertising mascots (under the line name Ad Icons) is the huge thing with collectors, particularly related to cereal mascots. It stems from many early releases being lower in quantity or being available for a limited time. These things can go for hundreds, I don't know why but they do. Artificial rarity for the line drives up hype I guess.

So they released a regular store release of Twinkie, but also made a Target exclusive. Literally the only difference is it glows. Now the specific Pop here is a chase, where one in six have a different variation. This one changed the outfit to I think a more modern version. That's one that sells for $100. Stupidest shit ever but that drives insane people in.

Obviously this man has mental issues to do this, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted it for drug money and that's why he went batshit insane. Overall sad and pathetic situation

Off the top of my head, there was a story about two men getting into a fight in a Hot Topic over an exclusive chase version of Maleficent, and people getting into fights over different versions of the Krampus. I also remember reading about someone getting arrested at a Hot Topic for threatening employees because they wouldn't open the Pop cases for him or something like that. In terms of hoarding, if you follow Funko collectors long enough you'll see a bunch of people who have turned their living rooms into huge Pop shrines, like the walls of their living room will be Pops stacked floor to ceiling. There was also a guy whose wife made him sign a contract outlining how much money he was allowed to spend on Pops each week or month, with special provisions for convention exclusives and stuff like that.

That said what killed the Beanie’s was incompetence of the company. Funko never implyies them as valuable, they just let the collectors infer that on themselves. Also another factor is they don’t shit their pants when a dip in sales occurres. What lead to the TY2000 scam was sales took a small hit and they didn’t like it, thus making a blunder of a move to drum up sales as “the end” of the line. Funko just went “ok, data shows our biggest buyer atm is women between 20 and 40, what are some things that demographic would buy?” And climb back up with little effort, also the sea of licenses they get now ensures they will always have a purpose.
