>>7155283i think one of the defining points of the late 80s and early 90s kids was a big change in markets and culture directed at kids. Suddenly you had networks aimed at kids like Cartoonnetwork pop up. those networks did not have much if any original programming for the first couple years of their run, so it was tons of syndicated stuff. Stuff from previous generations, so we grew up absorbing that culture as well.
same with toys. There were a lot of older lines being reused, especially in the case of toddler toys like Little people sets from the 60s reproduced in the late 80s, but it also includes things like the Thingmaker creepy crawlers.
90s kid entertainment was a real melting pot of both new and older stuff
>>7155276It was more common for me to find the DBZ and Sailor Moon toys at Block Buster then anywhere else at first. Once the Gundam craze hit real hard and Walmarts had nearly half an aisle dedicated to them, then did one start seeing other stuff like DBZ pop up in the Wal Marts. But they were pretty slim in selection compared to Gundam.
