>These Super Collector figures were a new sub-line that was pitched for 2012. Essentially they would have been like Bandai Japan S.I.C. (Super Imaginative Chogokin) figures with Kenji Ando (who is one of the Bandai Japan SIC designers) sculpting/designing them.

I remember reading all of this on Action Figure Insider several years ago, so have an obligatory Snarf-Bro.

But yeah, this makes me incredibly sad to see all of this. 2011 Thundercats had so much potential with fun figures & playsets. Show was good too. But then Bandai cancelled it all in less than a year for "reasons."

I never did get that 6" Tygra either. Hunted for him in every damn Marshall's & Ross within a hundred miles from my home when rumor spread that he was being dumped wholesale to those stores. Now he's absurdly high on the secondary market.

Toy sales were lackluster because they were BoA and were mostly shit. Black pins for joints had zero excuse to be used.

Animator Daniel Norton also acted like a giant faggot over random internet comments and it probably didn't do the show any favors with the execs when they got wind of it.

I was there, the show did great and the toys sold, the downfall was show fucking incompetent bandai was about getting new product out, to the point it killed the line and show. Anyone who said it failed because of any other reason doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

It's not surprising that there are higher expectations for a show like that and when it doesn't hit the high goals, they're going to cancel it.

It lost its audience because of constant programming shifts that placed it outside of the general public's viewing schedule. Putting it as a a lead in to Adult Swim was too late for kids, and faced competition for adult audiences. Placing it early morning on weekends helped the reach for kids, but alienated the adult audience. Then plugging it into Toonami got the adult audience back, but killed the child audience for good.

Should have been a mid afternoon/after-school affair. That's realistically the best time slot for action cartoons if you want a share of both audiences, but modern CN doesn't operate in that capacity.

you know what show had no problem at all in getting an audience despite airing at 10:30pm, right before Adult Swim on a Saturday, gaining 3 more seasons after being planned for only 2, whose toyline continued for several more years after the show was canceled?

The show was shit, dude. The toys were shit.
It should not be surprising no one gives a shit about the series and why there are almost no toy efforts, because they do not sell and even the limited number efforts sold like shit.

You know what else was great, but got canned, because CN hates DC? Not surprising that the toys were shit and that's why it couldn't survive CN taking all the commercial money. Unsurprisingly, it got revived because it was still popular.
GLA was pretty mediocre as fuck.

Notice the trend in poor crap getting canceled?

Bad things being canceled and good things enjoy extended stays.
Companies like Mattel are an abomination to the natural order of things and is only proof that money is the source of all evil. The only reason they can stay aloft producing such horrible toys is because of money. Thankfully, it's a battle of attrition, because they're slowly losing all that money because all the bad shit doesn't sell

Skimming through the articles that battle damaged Thundertank looked great, same with those tron bikes that attach onto it, I was all over gimmicks like that as a kid. It seemed to be an all new mold since the released Thundertank had a vehicle shooting gimmick that this one lacks..

Considering the last two Thundercats threads it is starting to look like we can't discuss Thudercats in peace until Subjectanon finally kills himself.
Anyway I feel like S.I.C Thundercats would have been incredibly cool but they probably would have shelfwarmed pretty hard.
Either way it is always interesting to see figures of established characters in other styles instead of just another rehash of their original look.
