How do the Ultimates compare with the original Classics versions? Better quality, worse quality, about-the-same? Which should I get? Yes, I'm aware of the prices, but assume that doesn't matter.

It's really funny, as not keeping up availability of main characters was a big factor in hurting the he man toylines in the past, more than once, and they are 100% aware of this.

They are purposely keeping it scare and catering this to the HARDCORE COLLECTORS ONLY market of MOTU fans. The same shit Mattel did with MOTUC.

Its a dying franchise, and the fans don't help. Old fans like to push away anything too new or different and are content to just be pandered to with nostalgia rather than run the risk of new iterations changing too much. 2k3 got a lot of hate and attempts to homage it in the Classics line got mixed reception; there's people who did support it but a lot who didn't and it didn't get support enough to stand on its own outside of a few releases like the He-Man vs King Hiss pack. She-ra's remake will get an even icier reception, though it might be justified, at least its something new in the franchise.

As someone who grew up with MOTU hand-me-downs and loves the designs, it upsets me that we probably have seen the last complete MOTU toyline. The franchise will linger onward in some form, but the next step will be things like 1/12 figures and expensive Sideshow statues; as the target audience has gotten older and older and they've finished updating pretty much the entire classic line with few exceptions. Now what's left is marketing higher end figures and statues to people, and due to cost you're never going to see the variety of characters in stuff like this. Its why I've decided to start buying up MOTUC figures. Even if Mattel decides to do a reboot for retail shelves, retail level Mattel usually sucks and the designs would probably be really different and I doubt they'd cover all the characters.

Yeah. I started a small MotUC collection over the summer because the figures are pretty swell toys. Mostly just grabbed a bunch of characters I didn't even know about because they were fairly cheap being third or fourth string guys like Karatti or Huntara or Darius. I want a Fisto but the guy goes for five hundred and that's just too rich for my blood. Hell the He-Man and Skeletor I have are the super differently designed light up ones just because they were reasonably priced.

Super7 quality is generally worse than Mattel, and the guy in charge won't take any blame and/or pretends "well you're not supposed to open them in the first place, they are COLLECTIBLES". He passes it off as factory fuck-ups that he had no control over, when really, he refuses to monitor what factories do and tries to make fans accept it when they make massive changes that break promises. I genuinely get the impression the man is mentally handicapped.

It sucks. I really want MOTU figures, but they only cater to the most desperate diehard fanboys with deep pockets and no standards.

MOTU in 2018 should be super articulated and magnificent.

Instead it's static and boring crap that looked like it walked out of a 2004 toy aisle.

I just broke down and bought the Skeletor vs Mo-Larr and He-Man vs Superman two packs because they seemed like the most cost-effective way to get a Classics Skeletor and He-Man.

I have the Teela and Skeletor and both were pretty good. The only problem I can say about the Skeletor was that they painted his hands instead of casting them in blue for no real apparent reason.

This. Super 7 is just a real bad company that knows the diehard fans will just except anything that it thrown at them like stupid lemmings.

I've been buying MOTUC since the very beginning, and granted Mattel and Digital River were fucking horrible to deal with, I still supported the line until S7 started their deceitful bullshit. From the non-resealable packaging to the cheap brittle plastic...I gave up. IMO they honestly are worse than Mattel. When you complain about them or to them, the response is "well were a small company and can't do that" or "you should be happy to be getting anything cause Mattel has no interest in doing the figures anymore."

Thats a random thing with all of the MOTUC figures from Mattel as well. There's just random bits on it that are painted a solid colour instead of being cast in coloured plastic like the rest of the figure.

Its hilarious looking at them under a black light. My Keldor has one hand painted and one cast in blue plastic.

I have a buddy who got them when they were normal priced at TRU. I was in a pretty deep "He-Man sucks" phase at the time so I never dipped into them. Really regretting it now, but at least I'll have the characters eventually.

That BST was literally a month ago. And its more trouble, sure, but you could hunt down the figures that had the other heads(New Adventures Skeletor, Demo-man) and re-sell the rest of the figures. Even if you lost some money its still better than spending $462. Also watch for eBay coupons where you can knock $15 individual purchases. At the end of the day, it'll take more time but it'll still be better than spending $500 on something that will drop to almost half the price as soon as you open them.

Ult is more pure blue like the old toy, Classics is more faded with a lot of wash/highlights painted on. You can't buy the vintage head elsewhere.

Barbarossa Customs recasts are 100% garbage quality.
