Personally, I really want a Ripchain. I love the chain-fed guns, even though they're a bitch and a half to mod.

i'm happy the knockoffs are as good or better than Nerf in recent years. about the only think kosher nerf guns do better than the competition is art design and nice texturing.

It's about the price. Nerf's competitors all try to position themselves as the "value" brand, so they shave corners here and there to bring their product a couple of bucks in under Nerf's pricing. Of course, this perpetuates the common perception that non-Nerf brands are "lesser than" and not just "different than."

Don't sleep on Dart Zone. Their BallistixOps blasters are delivering Rival performance at unbeatable prices. Even Buzz Bee and X-Shot have been stepping up their design game as of late. Meanwhile, Nerf has been shoving repaint after repaint out the door and giving us shit like the Delta Trooper (which honestly looks like an off-brand design).

More seriously, Nerf has the capacity for better molding in quantity due to the size of their distribution chain. Smaller companies have to use a lower grade of plastic and less finicky molds because they have a smaller sales footprint and thus a smaller profit margin per-unit.

they could do better with visual/ergo design alone, the XShot stuff is almost there with some and as good or better with others. dartzone and buzzbee leave me dry, lame looking and pinchy. one thing nerf does better than them all is texturing in the plastic, that little change adds a lot.

I thought BoomCo line was completely done for, especially with the issues Mattel had with layoffs. But now I see two new offerings on Amazon, a flame print reskin of the Halo Assault Rifle and a compltely new offering in the form of the SOCOM pistol from ODST.

I hope there may be more down the line, but I get the feeling this might be it.

wouldnt say they outjewed themselves over the triggers. Don't think many of the guns were pump action without triggers and the only one of those I had was designed for slam fire, nd it was actually really fun to use and even worked well. All of the other guns I can remember had triggers

they are new molds and even seem to be pretty darn close if not completely Model accurate. looks like they are trying to take the approach Boomco did for the Halo guns versus how they handle their star wars guns.
