Hi /toy/,
I don’t ever come here so forgive me if I am in the wrong place.
So on a recent trip to Japan I visited the Gundam shop and bought a load of Gundam Wing models (nostalgia). They are 1/144th scale and cost about £3-£6 each.
I had bought Deathscythe Hell years ago and just slapped it together. It has been sat on display ever since.
I decided I wanted them to look nice and get a proper paint job done and put them on display.
So I asked a company here in the UK for a quote. I was expecting maybe £200, which is a silly price to pay to get 9 £3-£6 models painted but I could afford it, so why not?
The quote I got back? £12,000.00!
Needless to say I burst out laughing. And then politely declined their offer.
Unfortunately I can not paint my self due to having a condition similar to Parkinson's (I have exceptionally shakey hands, which never stops).
What sort of options do I have open to me to get my models nicely painted for display?
