Say what you will, but I actually liked the fad because it reminded me of all the crazes we had over physical consumables in the '90s like pogs and beanie babies and shit. Nowadays the only fads that stick are stupid internet memes. Culture just moves too damn fast. Even fidget spinners were only cool for like, what 6 months?

I used one to make a rotating platform for doing 3D scans using the Qlone app on my phone. Had to add silicone grips for it to work, though.

For actually autistic people, i.e. people with the medical condition, not in the buzzword 4chan insult sense, yes. Autistic people like to self-stimulate or stim by doing repetitive behaviors and playing with a fidget spinner is great for stimming.

The ball bearings in them tend to be pretty good, so if you needed something that spins reliably with little friction, they’re pretty cheap.
