Just started my collection to complement my comic collection by getting the Icons Justice League (separately, not the pack). I'm really wondering, why didn't they just start a new line that is like the Icons series but bigger? Icons is a great line (accessories, great and unique sculpts) so I fail to see why they had to introduce the Essentials line which not only uses the same sculpts but also doesn't have any goddamn accessories. Is DC retarded? How are sales numbers for the Essentials line anyway? Are people actually buying more of those figures than the Icons line?

I ordered the Rorschach two pack since he has almost no figure representation. Should arrive tomorrow and will be my first in the Essentials line. Kinda looking forward to it, but hope it's not shit.

If it's good, I'll definitely be looking into Nightwing, Batman, and Deathstroke.

The cape doesn't overly bother me but it is definitely a Marmite thing, you either love it or hate it. I think it's cool, it gives me that hyper-exaggerated/dynamic comic art look, but I do see what people dislike about it. But then I hate soft goods on toys so eh.

The actual figure itself though is IMO a damn fine looking toy.

The trunks add a little bit of extra color that makes the design work better.
I get that they are 'silly' but the motherfucker is a comic book character in a bat costume who regularly beats up a clown.

Just got this in. All joints intact, paint is good, goggles are extremely nice. But my God is this body a disappointment. I’m sorely tempted to strip it and put the head, suit, hands and boots on a Sozai-Chan I’ve got spare. He’ll, the suit might look better on the Sozai body.

Thing is, they could keep the single elbows and knees if they’d just put more clearance either in the thigh and bicep or the calf and forearm. The joint just needs room to compress.
I also just discovered she only has articulation at the base of her skull and not also the base of her neck.

She’ll probably stick around for just as long as I have my Ascending Batman and then I’ll sell them as a set.

Distribution was the same as other DCC lines, so it could have continued if it had just sold like its other popular lines (like Arkham game line).

DC Essentials does seem to be using clear plastic has been reported on numerous places. Take a look at Slade's neck here without his head on. You can clearly see the unpainted clear plastic.

The original clear plastic thing came from the DCAU line having clear plastic for the joints. They eventually corrected that and rereleased the affected figures. They completely skipped using clear plastic on Icons but have seemed to have gone back to it with Essentials. And it's no implication. You can clearly see the clear plastic on Deathstroke on his neck. I don't know why DCC is incapable of making good decisions.

That's not the same thing at all. The DCAU line had literal clear plastic joints that had paint flaking off revealing that they were clear transparent underneath. It wasn't just limited to that line either since previous DC lines had it for a while and the issue only became prominent during the DCAU figures due to the thinner build of the characters lending to easy breakage.

I can't completely vouch for Essentials (I'm still waiting to have my Manta and Aquaman shipped since they're the only ones I got) but the pics you're showing aren't anything like the original "clear plastic" they were using. Those actually look like they're just molded in the base colors with no paint (lazy but efficient I guess), and not at all like the clear plastic their older figures had. I'd know because I actually collected a ton of DCD and DCC figures even well before the changeover.

Judging by the photos, it just looks like they're using glossy opaque plastic underneath the normal matte paint. The one with Deathstroke clearly shows it's just matte paint over colored plastic

None of them look like they use clear plastic.

I haven't seen any review talk about the joints using clear plastic either.

Their Bombshells Designer Series figures were the same price as their Essentials and almost all of them had multiple pairs of hands and accessories. I just received an essentials superman. Sculpt and paint are great. Lack of extra hands sucks. But overall he can't stand up. The ankles and legs are quite loose. And his cape makes him back heavy. Weirdly I can get him into some dynamic poses and flying poses are fine... but the fukker can't just stand up. 5/10.

I know what you're referring to but I'm saying that Icons was unique which was a good thing. I think fans would have even accepted ML-levels of copypasta if they were using proper material for the Essentials line, if the figures were in scale with Legends, AND if they also came with accessories. I honestly have to say that DC fucked up on literally every aspect of the line
