- the three design constraints he always balances are cost effectiveness, engineering stability, and visual aesthetics
- he believes the transformation is as important as either mode, and the user should sense the "drama" and "character" of a toy as they transform it (calls it "Signature Transformation," pic related)
- his transformations are often inspired by dance choreography, and his robot designs take cues from fashion motifs (again, pic related)
- he introduced the practice of giving TFs more characterful posture in neutral stances, not so stiff and vertical (pulling shoulders back, tilting pelvis forward, etc)
- he likes how you can look at an alt mode and see all the exposed engineering elements like seam lines and hinges, accepts it as part of the art
