How do I know when I've collected enough toys? What if they overwhelm me, or collapse and bury me alive?

i would say you'll notice when you run out of space/storage, and the answer would be to buy more storage.

if you're already at that point of fullness, look at your collection and think:
>do i really like what i have
and do research on what to sell or give away.

I'm asking myself the same thing anon. When I first moved into my own place I was able to take everything out of boxes and put them on shelves and it was great. Now I'm running out of room and rotating displays. No matter how much space we have, we'll always find a way to fill it...

You could die from a plate falling from the cupboard on your head or a knife falling from your hand and severing an important artery on your leg or foot
You can slip on soap in the shower and bang your head and die there too
Don't worry about stuff like that, just enjoy what you have
If there's toys in your collection you don't like anymore, get rid of them to make room for ones you like more

I justified my toy collection by opening an eBay store. I always have 30+ items for sale and it makes me happy to sell to people. Especially now during the Christmas season. Every toy I buy is funded through my store's PayPal funds so I never spend any money on toys due to the profit. Granted my collection grows, but gradually.
