End of an era feels

So with figuarts kiva comming out finally after all this time, to me it feels like the end of an era. In a similar way to when the bay formers first started coming out almost 12 years ago or when toy biz stopped making marvel legends.

Does anybody else have any weird feels like that about toys?

I also kinda feel like this because TJOmega has stopped making videos and i have been watching them since 2008.

I felt this way when the average schoolgirl Figma started costing 6000 yen and Max Factory stopped trying to cash in on flavor-of-the-season anime because it was taking them years to get a Figma out after announcing it.

2008-2012 really feels like a whole different era now.

MP-36 Megatron seems to have killed the momentum of G1 MP figures. The figure just divided people too much; it’s a slavish recreation of the cartoon ; with complex engineering; but it did so at a cost of qc issues, and an aesthetic change that made further releases, and past ones, complicated. Now there had to be a new Optimus to match this Megatron,and that Optimus had already set the aesthetic standard for figures before 36. Takara is stuck trying to rerelease old figure to match as best they can but it doesn’t work. There’s very few G1 releases a year anymore. Fans Toys and Maketoys has basically picked up the ball and made figures to continue to fill holes Takara is leaving, and not many people are willing to jump back. These 3Ps aren’t bad, but o feel they lack the aesthetic cohesion of MP-10 through 35. Fans Toys sculpts look just a little too plain, and Make Toys looks too cartoony. Shame, back in 2015 it felt like we were going to get the whole 84-85 lineup in the MP line.

I feel like when Figma and Revoltech stopped taking as many chances with less popular things was kind of an end of an era.

I can sympathize, back in 2012 I started watching Kamen Rider after seeing the Vange1us reviews, and got Figuarts Ultimate a bit later.

Now owning Ultimate 2.0, seeing the way lines are increasing in price, and watching never evers like Master Asia or Kiva Base come and go it's a strange kind of feeling.

I also feel a certain kind of way going from when the Monsterarts line started, me and my one buddy were so excited to get a bunch of articulated Toho characters, only to watch it shit itself turning into a myriad of Godzilla repaints all retailing at ridiculous prices.

Any one have any input on American lines?

Tomy losing the pokemon license to Wicked Cool is sort of an example for me. Tomy tried to be Marvel Legends or something, without the ML price, but still outdid Hasbro and Jakks. WCT is currently a Jakks 2.0, but with better small figures

There's a lot when it comes to western toys. Transformers goes through it all the time. The end of beast Wars was a big one for me; because that series lasted years and managed to get the franchise on its feet; and personally was the first TF series I got into. Seeing the last few figures in 2000 while Beast Machines was on the air, and then when RiD was coming out; it really hit that I wouldn't see a Beast line like that again.

On that note, seeing Kenner disappear from the Hasbro catalogs in '99 felt sad. Not seeing Jurassic Park toys for the 4 years or so before JP3 was an end to a highlight of dinosaur and other giant monster toys coming out in that era; the Godzilla 98 movie bombing only hurt things more since it helped crash trendmasters(and thats yet another company I miss.)

Toy Biz losing the Marvel license was another strange feeling. especially with how badly Hasbro mishandled the line originally. The Toy Biz stuff may not have aged gracefully, but the value they packed was amazing.
