Does anyone here have experience or know how to pitch a toy idea? Is there any sort of process I should know or should I just put up a concept for companies to see?

Do I need to pick a toy company? Is patenting a must or can I trust the people I pitch a toy to? Can I pitch the concept alone or must I bring a prototype?
