I tried to match the yellow on the tabbard for the shoulderpads, but man, it came out differently when it dried. I was going to do the recesses in the skirt and arms in the same color, but I think I'll just go with gold instead.

Fucking hell. Either wait and save your cash for when the pre order ends for them to put the remaining stock back up, or wait until the second in stock sale early next year.
Alternatively, you can inhale Co2 until the figures come back in stock. That will fix the thread at least.

Don't engage in a debate with the troll, nothing you say will affect him in any positive manner and nothing he says is of any merit. He just likes shitting up 4H threads because he's got nothing better to do. And because of him, the scalefag is back in here crying about things that never happened, so pretending either of them exist will only make things worse for everyone.

It's far more constructive and beneficial for everyone to ignore the asshats and just talk about and share pics of the actual figures.

Like how awesome the Goblins are. I only picked up a small group from the initial KS as I figured that would be enough for me. But after having him in hand and kitting up the Gob LB, I now realize the absolute potential for awesome these guys have.

My favorite part about them is that the sort of remind me of the Goblins from Final Fantasy XI. I played that game for a decade and the Goblins were always a major enemy to be wary of. Not so much important story wise, but rather they were always a thorn in your side gameplay wise and they had such character that they were easily one of the best enemies in the game.

The Legion Goblins share just enough similarities that I kind of want to grab a few more Gob LBs the next time they go up for sale, to see if I can make one a bit more similar to the ones in that game. The full masked helmet is already perfect, I just need to do some minor part swapping on the arms and feet...and somehow hunt down a backpack for them.

My dude, that's the exact reason I decided to get Gonxx. He reminds me of the masked goblins from FFXI. He was the only goblin I pre-ordered, but after seeing in-hand pictures of Snagg, I ended up getting him and Knubnik+No'glin as well from the in stock sale. Can't wait for them to arrive.

that actually brings up a good point, we should try and make a sort of list of figures that fit well with Mythic Legions, both in aesthetics and size(like how that Lizard figure has been used by multiple Anons as a Lizardman figure, or that Liz figure from the Rampage line gets used as a mount for the Goblins and Orcs)

I don't think anyone is blind to it, but its pretty clear that it isn't changing any time soon. Maintaining stock and fulfilling orders all the time is a whole different business from what they want to do, and whenever they've had stock for longer in the past, sales stopped and they had to put them deep on sale. Their current model guaruntees they sell everything they produce for full price. They clearly don't want to scale their production, and that's reasonable given the challenges and risks it would come with.

There's this assumption in most industries that if you're successful at your current scale, then you obviously should be spending all your money growing in size. But often, this just ends up destroying potebtially stable companies when they realized how much it costs to scale up.

So yeah, I wish that they could keep stock reliably, but I also am happy for what we have, and I don't fault them for wanting to keep their company in it's current form. Plus, there's really not much more to say on the subject, so people get tired of seeing people post the same complaints over and over.

I have all three trolls, and while I love them they are barely worth the 100 dollar price tag, in all honesty. The articulation is limited, but they are fuck huge. Having one, I wouldn’t pay over the retail price. Also they are going to do more down the road, so maybe wait and see if they do one you like more and grab that one at regular price.

Yeah, that's the point?

You ask why "autist are triggered" by 4H, and there you have it, but you act like anyone who doesn't know about 4H's toys months and years ahead of time, that its their fault.
Whereas every other toyline is able to have production of their toys almost year round or has it available almost year round.

There's nothing autistic or anything of the sort when it comes to not being able to buy a toyline when it's finally released and in hand. You not understanding why people would be upset can be considered autistic, if not sociopathic because of your refusal to understand.

BTW, i've been collecting 4H's stuff since their minotaur, but 4H needs stop this bullshit with their collectors and scalpers only way of production. It would only benefit everyone except for you spiteful assholes who think 4H is doing nothing wrong.

What is your suggestion? They already had some stock sitting in their store (until they removed it for this pre-order) and that's before everyone has their figures from the 2nd AoD pre-order. Yes, several figures have already sold out, but with a lot of stock still there, how do you know how much more they should produce? I'm not saying you're wrong and they should keep going how they're going, but I never see anyone make any suggestions, just complaints.

So how many people here paid scalper prices or bought a used toys for a high price for their Scarabus, if you even own one?

I only mention the Scarabus, because this seems to be a popular release for the newfags who only found out about 4H with the Ravens. And probably the only reason its popular with newfags is because past releases were dodgy and the minotaur being too expensive and rare... but thats the latecomers fault for not knowing about these line, huh?

This is why Kickstarter exists in the first place, in order to dip your toe to see how much initial demand there is. It's waaaaaaaaay safer than how it was before, where you risked your home to have your toyline produced even if you made only like 10,000 units.
The molds are the highest cost of production, so why can't they take a little risk and actually produce more than the minimum numbers required from making shit in China?

THATS how you test demand and produce accordingly with every wave afterward. You take a MUCH smaller risk today (thanks to kickstarter already funding the molds and even the first 10,000) by producing more, but 4H is penny pinching as fuck, considering how expensive their toys already are in relation to their production cost and compared to other lines.

BTW, i work for a small company who produces nerd shit as well and have launched successful kickstarters. We produce stuff year round and don't need to ask for preorders either just to change colors or make a few new molds.
It's mind boggling to me how their store even works, but it seems lazy as hell that they need to take shit down jsut to sell preorders. Their webstore should give them the option of having multiple categories and how their products will ship. One person can handle the orders, especially when it seems they're only stocking a few hundred leftovers for each character.

The issue seems to stem for the fact that only people who somehow already knew about the line/have bought from them before, will learn about any kickstarters or preorders. Even something as simple as reaching out to a few notable toy reviewers in the lead up to any of those to get the word out would increase awareness tenfold, at least.

Being at SDCC is almost irrelevant (they weren't even there last time), because they share a booth with a vendor and their small section is lonely, especially last year when they had nothing to sell.

And that's bullshit that you should always know what's going on. It's thanks to /toy/ and a few other places that i find out about kickstarters. Now that youtube has become so popular, a lot of toy sites are almost ghost towns with very little to report on major toylines and far less on indie toylines.
And like fuck I'll spend 324098234 minutes trawling through youtube to get new news, especially when the most popular youtube ones are just shitty livejournals and mumblemouth reviewers.

As for the generals on /toy/, you create very insular groups with almost no growth and sociopaths like this >>7273484 who berate anyone who doesn't act like them. So i don't even go to certain other generals anymore, and have missed out on some announcements, leaving me to get something like a Figuarts after its release date.
And if i had done the same thing with 4H, I'd have to buy that shit from a scalper, because 4H's business model is complete shit.

What I find most interesting about all these arguments with 4H not keeping legions in stock, is literally no company just keeps producing all of their toys constantly. Hasbro, Mattel, NECA, they all will produce waves, but once the inital production is done for that wave, they move on. The major difference between them and 4H is production numbers, and lead time.

When Hasbro reveals a Marvel Legends wave, we see it ususally a few months before it comes out, but it’s long been in production. NECA will show early designs and prototypes that might be out 9-12 months later.

4H is a small company. They don’t have the warehouse space or cash to buy another larger warehouse to also keep a constant stock of stuff around. They also are direct to consumer. Every other toy company I mentioned ships directly from their factories to retail outlets. 4H handles it all themselves, so keeping a regular stock in isn’t something they can manage, currently.

2000 people or so backed the kickstarter. And another 2000 people ordered from the 2.0 store order, give or take using rough estimates based on emails they sent out in the past. That isn’t enough people to have more workers hired dedicated to managing store sales. Unfortunately, I think we are stuck with the system they have, which if you somehow manage to miss the preorder window, and the BBTS window, and also the in stock sale, then you do get fucked when it comes to that wave. But I have to imagine they will eventually reissue everything and hopefully start keeping some stuff, like legion builders in stock on a regular basis.

Large companies like Hasbro don't make toys year round, but that's not really the point, it's that they make enough stock to sell to everyone who wants their toys. So when they're first released, everyone who shows it off will excite others into buying their line, and because Hasbro made hundreds of thousands, you can go out and buy it after the fact.
Same shit with BFS, MGR, and David Silvas. They all made enough toys that they can sell to more than just backers and preorder. David Silvas recently announced that he's going to re-release his first wave with improved paint jobs. MGR also does reorders for his figures/weapons when he sells out.
There's no excuse for why 4H being this penny pinching and paranoid. Unlike this sociopath's beliefs >7273571 , if they can't actually sell more, then maybe they should advertise their shit more. Because right now they basically only sell to He-Man fans.
This is why their Power Lords line was such a failure, because they didn't bother to announce their stuff to anyone but He Man places. No 1:18 site even reported on that shit until a week before their deadline and AFAIK, only one site even reported on that.

Then there's the fact that they can't price their toys fairly. Both BFS and David Silvas sell their toys to toy stores at wholesale price, so the prices at place like BBTS are comparable to what the sell them on their own personal stores. Whereas BBTS needs to sell the MyL figures as if they bought them at Target and mark up the prices to scalper levels.

Also what sets them apart from the other companies you mentioned is the sheer number of different figures they produce in one go. Especially compared to BFS, who release 2-4 figures a wave. The less figures you have the easier it is to keep some of every in stock.
I agree on the advertising though, especially on Powerlords. ML had some coverage, but Powerlords was dead on arrival.

They've already pushed me away with their inability to produce toys in any fair manner and this general is very hostile if you're not involved with the circlejerk. (BTW, to that Forest Troll guy: they're not worth it. Basic as fuck figures where toys with even less articulation are more poseable).
So if I don't treat them like every single toyline out there, by getting their toys directly from them at launch or a kickstarter (another reason Power Lords failed) I'm left out, because it's still just preordering with them.

Also mentioning BFS is really not helping you, they reuse almost as much as 4h. Their "insanely good" knight of Accord, Discord and Lance all use the same armor with different heads, pauldrons and weapons, just like Mythic Legions. (And I still buy them)

Not surprising that people dislike me for posting about my experience with 4H's toys and how horrid the articulation is on their trolls.
Again, sorry for not contributing to your circlejerk, but people do want to know if a $100 figure is worth it and it's not for the reasons stated, and also this: paint scrapes off at the joints.
Just look at the fucking horrid ankle articulation where a Hasbro figure can keep its feet straight on the ground and the ball-jointed troll's ankle can't because it only acts as a swivel.

The Elf/Vamp weapon pack was the only set I didn't get. So many of the best weapons from those sets were used in others I felt I didn't need it. I mean, Malachi comes with the Axe and Long Sword, multiple figures come with the dual blades (probably the best new weapon), nearly every good guy elf has the short bow and Aydon has the long bow and shield.

Well I'm sorry to hear that the "MyLs" or whatever are lacking in articulation, but this is a thread about Mythic Legions, and they have some of the best articulation compared to most western figures. They even have superior articulation to a lot of smaller scale Kickstarter stuff like BFS and MTF figures!

McFarlane current stuff has more articulation than MLs and MLs are ahead of MyLs.
Their Fortnite figures have even more articulation than their Halo figures, so it's around Sentinel amount of articulation. More than your average Figma or Figuarts.

Check out the inner shoulder ball jointed for the shoulder ball-hinge.

Not sure, as i don't have them out, but to call them statues just because most figures for most lines would struggle with that pose as it is, is just false.

Here's the Mass Effect figure that can't do that pose, but check out him being able to look down the sights of his gun and move his body to the side that only the side of his head and rifle will poke out to fire on anyone who comes close.
Can't do that with the majority of toys, since their torsos don't have as much range of motion as this ME figure. Sadly, his hips are just ball joints, so their range isn't as great.

Mcfarlane can actually do some impressive articulation when they want. It's just they seem to prefer to do statues where they add some cut joints to get around whatever restrictions there are over selling statues in toy stores.

As for the Legions themselves, I've already explained how they have deceptively good articulation. The only real flaw the 1.0 figures had was the poor range of motion in their elbow joints, as they had trouble doing full 90 degree bends. The bone arms could do it, and the armored arms could do it if you removed the elbow, but the bare arms and stock armor arms could only bend so much. Otherwise they had top notch neck and waist ball joints, insane hip joints, greater then 90 degree knee joints and some of the best ankles in the business.

Their wrist joints were also poorly done considering their need to hold swords and such, but that's how most figures work sadly.

Outside of some JP lines, they hold up well against most action figure lines produced today. Marvel Legends has some figures with better articulation, but it's entirely dependent on build. BFS figures actually have less articulation as they lack the thigh swivel and ankle rockers on the males (why?) as do MTF. There may be some select Neca figures with superior articulation, but from my experiences, most of them have articulation heavily hindered by sculpt. Maybe the Mezco One:12 stuff can pull off more motion, but I've never seen them in anything other then a standing pose so I was never super impressed by their articulation. But at that price-point, they SHOULD have the best articulation.

People keep saying the Legions have poor articulation, but they're pretty much in line with most western companies.

I've been a huge fan of McFarlane since his original 5 PoA spawn figures. They make some amazing...if not fragile...figures. Most of them are statues but when they want to do articulated figures, they knock it out of the park. Just look at that one super articulated Spawn figure they made years ago to see just how good they can be when they try.

I would kill for a super articulated fantasy line from McFarlane, as even without working joints their figures are amazing.

Bought the iron knight just to do something custom. Decided to go simple with it. Painted thr buckles, and straps. Dry brushed the chainmail, and gave it a wash. The soft goods took a couple tries. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

They definitely have notice about the scale, they even mentioned that they were toying with the idea back when they showed them off at 1/18 scale. I think that change made a lot of people happy, far beyond the he-man crowd. I know because I think he-man is dumb but I don't collect much 1/18, so I prefer 1/12 lines, so it was a good change for people like me.

I also think garbage is a bit of an overstatement. They definitely have room for improvement but they seem to all do their best, short of hiring more staff. And that would be a bad decision because they don't need them all the time.

$35 is certainly higher than $28. But it is close enough that it does seem worthwhile to get much larger figures that can have more detailed paint jobs. And the Legion Builders cost less than a figure that is half the size.

4H lied when they said it'd be only a dollar or two difference. There's no ands ifs or buts about this. This is a fact, unless you're super fucking greedy and have to set their profit margin much higher. The cost difference is a 20% higher mark up than shit sold at RETAIL, which is what a store needs to sell their toys at to profit from the WHOLESALE price.
Whereas 4H sells their shit directly to you, cutting out the middleman and they'd have the gall to charge $34 for a fucking 4" figure that is on par with a $25 figure. Or objectively inferior to a $20 figure and $28 figure, speaking purely from a cost perspective of more complexly made figures featuring both more articulation and/or paint.

How do you justify BBTS selling Legion Builders for nearly 100% more instead of your stated 20% markup? Nearly twice the price for the figure with some of the highest production numbers. Figures that are often in the highest demand.
I think you might need to send some angry emails to those greedy cunts at BBTS. Seems like they might be price gouging. We don't know the contract between BBTS and 4h, and since BBTS has shown they are willing to gouge on LBs, how can we be sure they don't get wholesale pricing and are just price gouging on an exclusive product.
And if they choose not to give BBTS a wholesale discount, I don't give a fuck. I've never bought from BBTS due to their shipping to my country being ridiculous.

In my posts I have mentioned what the price difference was and their current price. The KS price was to reference how nearly every single KS gives a discount to everyone who backs their project, yet they didn't.

That's great, but all KS usually do the same shit by giving you greater discounts for larger orders. This is how dealing directly with the manufacturer usually works. So no matter what, the price difference greater than $1 or $2 . Obviously, usually with retail you won't get discounts like that, but they're still less expensive anyway. You using the higher price Acid Rain figures is just more misrepresentation, considering they feature more paint and articulation than your standard MyL. Their normal figures are 27 and 28. Nevermind we'er comparing today prices to what the prices would be back then.

They're not gouging on any Kickstarter lines, especally with preorders. And don't even pretend that MyLs are somehow more sought after, especially since we know various lines (BotM, HACKs, etc) have done re-releases and the fact of how sales/clearances work. Discounts will never go below where they won't at least make a profit, howevery slightly. So you have Toy Notch figures going for 52% off their original $20 price and somehow the lowest discounted 4H figure is $35.99... weird how it's just above the cost of what 4H sold it at, huh? Almost all of their high clearance prices work out to be a bit above wholesale cost would be, so why wouldn't it be true for 4H's stuff?
It's crazy we're even comparing RETAIL prices (all toylines) VS direct sales with the manufacturer (4H with fans)

Backdrops are probably best custom made. Bandai actually just announced a wall (in small sections so you can build it however you want). It's probably gonna be pretty costly to build a backdrop that way.
For props you could search for some Schleich stuff, they're normally a bit to small, but certain items might work. I bought a little pack of just four different bones. They had a fantasy line, "Eldrador" maybe there's some stuff left over.

A couple threads ago people were making dungeon/ruins dioramas out of insulation foam. It's like 50 bucks of materials and an afternoon of work, I honestly think it's your best option. Thanks for the suggestions. I have the Schleich battle arena or whatever, and one of the castles, and they fit okay with ML but are definitely intended for a smaller scale.

In some video reviews on Youtube I've seen a coffin with a Vampires Curia figure, no idea what it's from but it fits well.

true, I originally got the flags because you can separate the actual flag part and the stick it is attached to from the vertical pole and just mount it to the wall, but I have been thinking about maybe making a mine diorama for dwarfs and gobbos or maybe even some 1:18 figs, but I've never made something like that. It would give me something to do with the desk legs I got from the Lizards though (I'm the anon with three), maybe using them as wooden supports.
