Yeah, I don't think so. The fact that KKII got 3 waves also suggests that it wasn't a flop, and the fact that so much gear (bags, comics, board games, card games, etc) was produced for it suggests it wasn't either.

Considering the Mighty Micros for the Superhero Lines, and the Microfighters set for the Star Wars line, I've been hoping they'd do a similar thing with their own in-house brands.

I personally was hoping that the rumoured "Billion brick race" was going to be a mash-up set, wacky racers style, incorporating all their characters/themes into little impulse builds, but it hasn't happened yet.

Imagine a small set with a classic minifig or a specific classic character, and a tiny themed build for a vehicle they'd have.

No giant sets, they'd all be in the 10-15 buck range like the two existing car sets, either singles like star wars or doubles like superheroes.

They could just go crazy. Blacktron racer vs space police racer, ice planet chainsaw car, islander racer vs pirate ship on wheels, castle on wheels, rocket powered horse saddle, basil's bat shaped car, johnny thunder car vs ninjago snake-catapult car, Ogel's evil mean machine styled two-seater car with skeleton driver, etc.

I mean, it juts bums me out that the biggest toy company in the world has no faith in its own properties.

I normally wouldn't post something like this but it made me laugh. Day 8 of the City Advent Calendar is a buildable drone, complete with remote. I remember a few years ago reading an article about how the day after Christmas there was an outbreak of dad's getting their new drones stuck on various rooftops across America.

Now that the 2019 instructions have been posted I decided to see if I could fit a minifig into pic related. I was afraid I'd have to re-engineer the whole torso but it turned out all I had to do was remove the eye assembly.

I'm 99% sure that the Diner isn't being retired yet. They might have run out of stock for christmas though (This is after all the first christmas for that set, I believe) and that's why it's going up in price for now

I expanded my Skybound crew. Flintlocke and the guy next to him are the pilots of the "Flying Clutchman" (the biplane I posted a few days ago).
I'm thinking the little guy might be ground crew, basically the guy signaling planes where to land. If that's going to be his final job he's going to get a tiny aircraft so he can land before the others arrive. The other three are going to be piloting another aircraft I'm brainstorming, the "Keelhauler" (a transport craft). Wrench guy and Girl in the cockpit, topless guy grabs on to the side.

I'm a dude without any friends, and I spend most of my time alone.
Weekends are the toughest time - thankfully I have been able to spend most of my weekend busy building different lego sets.

I've been pleasantly surprised by most of the sets in terms of the builds and the techniques used.

I posted about this one in the last thread.
It's the technique used in the Brick Bank to build the bank teller interface. The process of building this was such a pleasure and I am considering brick-linking the parts used just so I can have them stashed for a rainy day, and build some bank teller interfaces.

I purchased this set on special a month or so ago.
Like a lot of SW lego it's an overpriced and mediocre looking set. But I wanted the red minifigs, and I wanted to give the set a chance - see if it was worthwhile to build. I'd never buy it full price.

But I tell you what, I was actually hugely surprised at how much I enjoyed building this set. There's an array of different interesting elements (as a future moc builder I appreciate sets that have a multitude of useful elements) and the techniques used to build the set are varied, really smart, and applicable to future mocs. I love sets that teach interesting ways to create something using complex techniques.
I highly recommend picking up this set if you find it discounted!

50k -100k hours. Which is 11 - 22 years of being on for 12 hours a day. I would say go for it. The fishing house lights are a bit bright but make the set even more comfy.

I finally started building a garage. I had to admit I don't have the skill to build a three bay with a machine shop. So starting small. Just a barn with a nice wood floor and some tools.

Brick Bank is my favourite..
I kind of think detectives office looks the best lit up
but Parisian Restaurant makes sense as being open after hours and can be sexy

It's way bigger than I realized it would be. 859 pieces in total. I personally think it looks great closed and also open. Some neat techniques and mechanics involved too. Such a great set.

here is my advice, let me know what you think:

The first step to building a city/town/blah blah
is to plan it out
and do it very simply
simple is the best way to do this properly
to do the plan
look at the space you have to build in
then think of what kind of simple shapes you would like in that space
the shapes are the potential buildings
come up with ideas about which shapes in which locations you like

then once you have done that
think about the way roads or pathways will work
adjust the shapes and location if you want to have specific roads and pathways to your desired look

then think about the elevation and changes in elevation and how you want that to be

I have a lot of minifigs, and bootleg minifigures. I have had a big crossover universe since I've been about 12. I'm still going with it.

I've just begun mapping out the factions, and their relationships and the likes on a big flowchart. It's autistic as fuck, but oh god it's so calming.

I would call it freedom collecting game
You need to find bricks first to build specyphic things, but there are a lot of props that are already build (pic related) - you just collect one and you can spawn bilions.

It can be boring if you are not into collecting though, and PC controlls are somewhat clunky because they tried to consolize the game.

I still love it and I spend DAYS on it.

I too do the written thing, have been as long as I can remember, though admittedly after 30+ years it's gotten a bit stifling. My New Year's resolution is to streamline it as much as possible. I even go the extra mile and doodle maps and shit.

Knights Kingdom was in my dark ages, but somewhere in the 2000s I discovered Bricklink and was going to buy a slew of stuff I missed, which included the later Johnny Thunder orient stuff, some Harry Potter, and KK. It was a perfect fit because right before quitting, my kingdom had all the factions as a united kingdom against the Fright Knights, so this group of knights would have been selected champions from each faction- green for Forestmen, Red for Dragon Masters, Blue for Crusaders/Black Knights, etc. plus those He-Man/Power Rangers-looking swords would have fit the story that was happening before the dark age began too. Magic was being thrown all around to where it became pretty ridiculous. I had the chrome swords sheathed in translucent green "charge stands" ( two 2x2 round pieces stacked onto each other) that kept them charged up with magic so they could shoot beams of energy, resulting in kamehameha battles between the Bat Lord and the Black Monarch, who was basically a fused version of the knight in this set and the ghost of the actual Black Monarch. He was cursed to roam restlessly and sometimes terrorized the kingdom, and other times was its greatest hope. He was a total badass who had the advantages of ghostly flight and supernatural strength, and was always in a bad mood. He was pretty much Piccolo from DBZ before he went to being a full good guy. I never did make that order actually, but I'm sure the story would have turned out cool. I kind of wanted to scale back the magic and get back to just medieval battles though, I remember that. I would have had to come up with some plot device that banished magic or some way for them to hunt down all magic users or something. The Royal Knights king HATED magic by that time and was ready to kick out the Dragon Masters because of Majisto, but he needed their military might.

Was the Ninjago movie rewritten during production?
With the whole "less Lego, more nature" environments, the appearance of real life relics like the laser pointer and the cat coming in to fuck things up it feels more as if the whole thing was originally supposed to be in Finn's backyard garden instead of a mystical world made up by a store owner.
In fact, it seems like the live action segments were just put in because they got Jackie Chan on board and wanted to use his movie star power even more.

For shame! Seriously though you can find good deals on both, though that anon should clearly look elsewhere. Ebay tends to be better at bulk purchases, usually of loose collections people are trying to dump.

Amazon is a bigger crapshoot. Dig around enough and you can find some great deals. Takes some luck and always be sure to check what prices other seller are offering. They tend to showcase Prime orders, no shock. Some people also look like they have a nice price but are hiding it in the shipping cost.

Lately I've found some nice minifig deals. I do like flat rate shippers where you can buy a bunch of cheap figs and don't have to pay shipping for each one even when they all come in the same package. That and Amazon customer service tends to be top notch. I've not been screwed over with bricklink but people post the stories here. Dishonest sellers, fucked up orders, orders that take forever to ship, sellers and buyers hitting each other with bad ratings sometimes for little or no reason.

I'm seriously considering buying the Diner this week as I don't want to wait until dec 24th minimum for the brick bank.

But that + I got Vader's Castle = 700$ of Canadian Shekels on lego this month

I guess I can settle for Brick Bank and the castle. I should have got Assembly Square instead but I really wanted that Brick Bank and Vader's Castle has great pieces for what I want to do with them.

I have almost all of the microfighters, and stuff like the first order star destroyer I got on sale for 80$, it goes with that set. I'll have the star destroyer above it with some fighters around and it'll look kino.

I have my star wars (I know it's dead but whatever, it's on sale all the time for that reason) set and then my city set.

I guess it's overpriced in terms of price per part, but you get good parts (black and red and big pieces). It's a good size for it.. I dunno, I like it. I can see why people don't I guess, but like I said it'll go with my star destroyer and micro fighters. And good pieces for making ships of my own.

Honestly wait till it is close to retirement so you can cash in on sales or promotions. In a LEGO store though you can get double vip, a Darth Vader minifigure pod and holiday carousel this month. A few months ago I found this set Rathtar Escape on ebay for 80 AUD.

I just built it last night/today and I have to say it's more interesting, and intricate, than it appears in the pictures.

Lots of great pieces and some neat and unique design techniques. I recommend picking it up if you're into this sorta thing, especially if you're into building complex interiors - pick it up on sale tho coz it's recommended retail price is way over priced as per usual with sw lego.

It got so much shit when images first dropped. I can agree it's not very neat looking on its own, too small to really play with much though a set that was just more floors stretched out with no walls doesn't sound very impressive either. Still I always felt it had some neat looking elements. Like >>7280972 said it looks like part of something bigger, and I always felt it might be nice to build something for it to be part of beyond the whole Rathtar thing. Hell, that door alone looks like it might make a nice part of a X-Men set for Cerebro. It even kind of has the X.

I'm pretty happy with the landing craft as a toy. What's definitely crap about it, however, is the fact that it has the same MSRP as Krennic's shuttle while having something like 250 fewer pieces (too many large pieces, as you said) and I think it has one less minifig too. And the landing craft's minifig selection was lame, whereas Krennic's shuttle had an awesome selection. Glad I managed a decent discount on the landing craft, as the MSRP is just outrageous.

I'm very much into micro and nanobuilds. A tip I can give you is: first figure out the scale at which you need to build to fit the connections you NEED to get the aesthetic you WANT. I gathered a folder of pictures of interesting microbuilds for inspiration. And keep trying out weird and wonky connection types, a lot of nanobuilding especially is things barely connected through illegal connections.

How much are you willing to spend?

I'd probably go to a store or amazon or whatever and check out what's on sale that looks cool. Then kinda consider what you want to build, if there's a theme like a city or medieval or whatever, or if there's a specific series you want to collect

But I like trying to work with sales because otherwise it's expensive

I also highly recommend looking into the Expert Modulars because they're lego kino, but they're also expensive

Lego City: Its a vicious cycle. Crime gets so rampant that they have to spend the taxpayers money on equipment like fighter jets and transport planes, which in turn forces more citizens to a life of crime since they cant maintain their livelihoods due to sheer amounts of taxation that has to be done to be able to afford these new vehicles. It's Vader's Castle, which I know a lot of people don't like but I like it a lot and am excited to build it, at least to hold me over until the Brick Bank is restocked and my backorder gets shipped around the ~23rd. jacket brown, fur beige and the little cloth part connected to the tech thing on her chest dark beige
Also that picture has weird colours anyway, her hair is far too dark and the goggles are a wrong design

It's both.The standard bricks have been redesigned to have thinner walls with all the clutch-power focused on those protruding points.
The plastics are also now translucent pellets mixed with color pigments instead of solid opaque pre-colored pellets and I actually ended up with a couple of parts with coloring errors due to this, with a brown part having a black swirl in it for example.

Corner Garage would be better with either an office for the garage and the owners apartment above it, or a lawyers office above it.

A pet clinic above a car repair garage just makes no sense. The animals would die from the noise and vibrations.

Now if they went with a lawyers office, they could tell a story with it, like how the shady lawyer covers for the mechanic ripping people off, or insurance fraud. I dunno, something.

The older ones used to be much more beautiful from a design sense.

But they introduced this new "column" in the middle so the plastic would be inject into the mold faster.

Also I think that the walls are thinner not only for economical reasons, but also because it would deform less.

ABS plastic are very distortion prone, so they need fill the whole mold really fast so it won't distort later. Also, the piece must have the same width or else it can deform too.

I think that's why we have that little dots inside the piece, it's there because if the stud was "solid" it would deform.

Close to finishing my first building moc. From the outside its just a box and still need doors, but it has 4 walls and a roof.

Also, this is one of my oldest memories; my dad, granddad and I went to bumfuck Illinois to buy an old Fiat. While they were talking i wandered around, found and peeked into a small barn like building, in the dim light was a racecars. Don't remember what it was, just that it was rad, with stickers and areo. My dad yelled for me and I ran back. I would have been a few weeks away from my 5 bday.

Reverse image-searching results in the picture being from a little girl who after not a year found out that the car was cracking left and right so hamhanding and other lame excuses can be ruled out.

My guess is simply shit quality and probably too fast production/cooling times since this year they even admitted that they produced too damn much bricks so I wouldn't be surprised if that's an ongoing issue resulting in problems like that.

I know many of you aren't fans of Vader's Castle, but I like it a lot. A bit pricey but eh not too bad. It's price per part is deceiving, it has a large exterior (it's almost double the size of my modulars in height, a bit bigger in width/depth but only because of rocks, it's about the same size)
Although it does have less detail of course, but it's not bad.
Anyway, I lit it up with my detective office LEDs and I think it looks awesome. I'll post some pics when my phone charges enough to do so

I feel okay about it. I probably could have waited for a sale but I really wanted something to build, and I actually really like the castle.. Star Wars is a piece of shit right now but a sci-fi reinforced lava castle is pretty cool. I like it. I get why people don't though.

I don't feel ripped off though, it's an imposing structure for the price, especially with the LEDs. And it goes with my Star Destroyer that I got really cheap :^).

If you like it, then that's all that matters. I will say that it does have a lot of potential for mods, especially where he parks his ship as that's a huge open area.
I would take out the bacta chamber, making that into a seperate mini-moc, and put something else there.
