Why are Desktop Army figures so dang expensive? Are they actually worth the price? They seem so small and basic, especially when you consider that they cost more than a complete G-Frame figure, which is bigger and more articulated. They're also way more expensive than Aqua Shooters, which seem to be around the same size.

I think is due part in licencing fees for the IPs that they're using (FAGs, SAO, etc), also in the case of the aqua shooters, you have fo build them yourself, whereas the desktop army comes pre assembled, and I thing that they come to some degree painted, aqua shooters pieces come unpainted

Weird thing is that If not mistaken, these daifuku FAGs are by ChanxCo, but I checked his pivix account and he don't have them there, unless these are by some other artist that just copied ChanxCo's style
I wanted that original Daifuku FAGs art to reproduce these boxes in a higher resolution

Well sure. I've even seen people scribe, putty, paint, and mod them. You can apply pretty much all the standard Gunpla techniques to them, just on a smaller scale. Careful with the soft rubbery pieces though, I'm not sure how well those will take paint/ink.

With ToySanta, you usually only have to buy the whole set if you get there late. If you get there on time, they split up a few sets for individual sale. Other stores though, like Havikoro, make you buy whole sets no matter what.

Won't happen, remember these are gachapon figures, they're sold at machines for a single 500 yen coin, that's the highest price Bandai charges for gacha AFAIK.
Shokugan, now that's a different story, but I doubt they'll change AS to be on that category

Got my first Aqua Shooter and Desktop Army figures in the mail the other day. Hugely impressed with the Aqua Shooter, it has a nice range of motion, it's fun to pose, it looks great, and it was only $5. Kind of disappointed in the DA. It has a lot of paint apps, which is nice, but it cost $20, the joint range is shit, it can't even stand up without supports because it doesn't have proper feet, and it comes with a billion connectors and adapters and bullshit that I'm never gonna use again.

I'm a little pissed that DA is the series that's blowing up and getting all this love and new licenses. Make more shit in the vein of Aqua Shooters, damn it.

Ive avoided DA for exactly those reasons, the size is right but everything else about them seems bad. Aqua Shooters is very new so hopefully more people will find them and Bandai will take notice. This is the perfect miniature line if they expand it.

I just got my an order of AS in recently and their elbow pegs come out if you rotate them just slightly which is annoying.

Mega Bloks/Construx has been doing solitary mini figures of a ton of different licenses that they don't do any actual sets for. Unsure if they will do more Hellboys but they are releasing variants of the Alien so it's possible.
