>>7291818>really only thing that sells decent is the black label stuffSo, the classic stuff and or the lucas stuff.
>>7291854>what is Disney doing wrong? They thought putting a "star wars" sticker on anything guaranteed a sale
>>7292541>The sequels have very few characters with iconic designsImagine this scenario: Star wars is known for its light-sabres, aliens, and vehicles. When you buy the franchise, instead of using these aliens and vehicles for nostalgia points / EU canonization, you ignore all of them and put your own spin on things. Then you can't figure out where you lost the fans when you offer them something that looks like a rip off of their fandom.
Now Imagine this scenario: You have a really interesting, red-armoured alien character in your movie, a movie full of brown and grey and more brown costumes. You decide not to make a toy of that guy, but instead, you make a toy of a brown alien guy who's costume is a brown potato sack. And then they cut the potato sack guy from the movie, and the red guy is popular.
Now imagine the companies, movie and toy, both being surprised, genuinely surprised, that people were interested in merch of the red guy.
This is the bounty hunter thing again. This is Maul or Boba or whoever. You might not remember the non-meme lines of the old movies, but those designs stick with you.
In the least troll way I can state this, the only costume that stands out in the five sequel movies is the chrome stormtrooper, red guards, and melted candle goldmember. All of them die basically the second time we see them.
The only main character with a memorable costume is Rose, who stands out because they take an attractive woman, give her a weird, unflattering haircut, an ugly, baggy, mustard yellow jumpsuit, and a character arc that is literally "continuously prevent another character from doing anything, free some animals that will be rounded up in five minutes but ignore the slave children, then fuck off".
