Guys, he's 4. That's barely out of toddler-hood. I say get him some imaginext stuff or paw patrol stuff or some tonka trucks or duplo or playmobil. Something chunky that'll actually hold up, but not absolute baby stuff.

Kids that age can use tablets just fine. There are kid-friendly games and they'd just watch youtube videos anyway. I got a nephew and two nieces that all used ipads since toddlerhood, just make sure to get those thick foam tablet cases to protect them.

If OP doesn't even know what the kid likes, chances are good this is not a kid he's that close to and doesn't want to drop the money on a tablet. Plus, the kid might well have a tablet already, again, OP doesn't know his interests, let alone what he already has.

Thanks, I did some research and I think I'll buy him one of those Paw Patrol advent calendars. I thought about buying a cheap tablet for him, but his mother and father are "against" technology so they would kill me if I did that.

They seem like good parents. I always cringe whenever I see small kids playing with tablets and stuff. I guess it's maybe okay if offline, but man the internet isn't something a small kid should have access to.

I like Fisher Price because the high quality really has lasted over the years. Most toys break after a few months but the Fisher Price sets are still like new eight years later. You also don't have to worry about choking.
