McFarlane was ahead of it's time until the vikings and samurai waves. After those, they started doing only statues, and by then a lot of companies had catched up on sculpting. The lack of articulation and good design (it started getting too edgy, with the wizard of oz and christmas stuff) kicked mcfarlane off the top and into just another toy company.

That said, their good sculpted figures from the mid-2000's are still unrivaled.

This anon is right. Last figure I have was the legend from movie maniac line. Pretty much a statue. Glad I kept it in the box. Worth quite a bit now. Got him for $10

Not really. The sculpting and paintjobs are nice but the QC is spotty (not NECA spotty though) and the articulation ranges from acceptable to worthless. Their Halo stuff is probably their best line, and even then the articulation is pretty sub-par by modern standards.

Their Fortnite stuff is actually decently articulated but is at a complete nonsense scale, and IIRC they have a nasty habit of the joints breaking. Also, you know,

I don't think anyone really caught up with McFarlane when it came to paint. They're still at such a high point that McFarlane can't outdo himself.

Recently saw McFarlane's Terminators and i was blown away at how much better they look than NECA's that i almost bought it, but then remembered its a McStatue.

they were pretty good and i think they did age well.
NECA seems like the current equivalent since theyre a western company and use similar IPs and i think SOME(not all) of mcfarlanes are better than anything NECA as produced. soon though it seems mcfarlane will come back and fill up its old spacethemselves. i didnt really keep up but it seemed to me that they started making statues almost exclusively for a while but the newer destiny, Call of Duty, and fortnite figures have got me hopeful. i kinda wish theyd make articulated versions of their sports figures

They're about as ugly as a Yamaguchi revoltech when it comes to their engineering.

McFarlane's stuff is genuinely great, especially if you don't care about articulation. Even if you hate them, you have to admit there is no current equivalent company that does what they did, with original waves such as "Dragons", "Twisted Tales", "Faces of Madness" etc. Not to mention, even their Spawn stuff had more originality and variation than what you see in most lines. Nowadays it seems that people are more interested purely in franchise lines.
