I got only two sets this year, but that Chima set pleasantly surprised me, my family doesn't use Bricklink or auctions so I am wondering where did they get it.

This is amazing, I'm so glad they brought Lego Movie Maker back! It was my fav thing as a kid that really brought lego together for me.

Toys R Us just sent me an email they have the lego movie 2 sets now including this. Super fucking tempted to pick one up for nostalgia

i mean, it'll work. but how well/if it scratches the plastic depends on the eraser. i reccomend trying it on a throwaway piece before you try it for real.

What I was gonna do is have a big pair of condor-style wings (with wingtip "feathers") swept back and under the tail wings. It's a pain to visualize how everything flows together tho. Definitely going to try to get more colour in but it's weird to block with how involved the shaping gets.

Fuckhuge mars MOC guy here again. I ran into a major issue with my elaborate tube hanger creation. Lego does not make any large base plates in the color orange and even if they did just making a surface to put my creation on would run several hundred dollars, not including all the orange slopes, bricks and tiles needed to create the rocky martian landscape.

I briefly considered doing a majority of the landscaping work with non-lego material like you would for a train set like what was on the covers of old lego set boxes and then have some sections of rock done with bricks on top of it. I instead committed heresy recently and bought 6 large "lego compatible" orange base-plates from hong kong for super cheap. The construction is really durable and besides being slightly glossier than the on-brand bricks it the color seems to match perfectly.

Is using these off brand baseplates really the best option? I'm not super into the lego community and have never done a large landscape before. I don't seem to have many options.

Thanks for your kind words, but my problems aren't that serious(?). That's why I like hanging out at 4chan. If I needed or wanted to, I could go to a proper rehab.

Back then we had all kinds of themes. Even during the Lego Movie we still had Ninjago and Chima or what was that during that year. and that was besides licenseshit.

Now the ONLY nonlicenset story--Character-driven theme (that is not a random sets - theme like City or Champions) is Ninjago.

Also i wonder if the death of Nexo Knights was on purpose.
Last 2 lines were utter shit. Those stone-grey Nexo Gargoyles sucked and looked very boring and i refused to buy them even on discount. Im sure some kids saw those sets and thougt they were boring too.
At least SW is something famous despite being grey-boxed.

Remember how AWESOME nexo knights were during the first year? So much cool stuff. Fortrex kicked ass.
And now its dead.

Im blaming shitty designers. I saw who designing those sets. And late Nexo-sets were designed by literal YOUNG basedboy. He looked not very experienced to me

You're right. But real world car brand sets have existed since early 2000s and the current licenses are divided between multiple brands unlike SW, Marvel etc. that are all owned by a single media conglomerate. Licensed cars in a miniature form are by nature a different product from multimedia franchise tie-in merchandise.
Also most recent SC builds are phenomenal examples of modern lego design and parts engineering and offer generally good value to customer, at least compared to grey headless chicken walkers.

Im a husbandofag not a waifufag so Reinhardt minifigure is the MOST disappointed thing of Overwatch sets.
i was soooo waiting for the new hairpiece for Reinhardt.
We already have "hair brushed back" minifig hairpiece but its too overdone and i thought MAY BE they will make a new one to make firm Rein's hair.
But they not only went lazy and didnt make leg prints but COMPLETELY fucked up Reinhardt's hair.
He has shitty messed up Anime Twink hair which pisses me off so much.

Oh well...ill just buy one head from Bricklink and will be done with entire overwatch minifigures because i already built most of characters by myself

I said it few times in previous thread - when you see who designing these you will understand. It looks like these sets were designer by younger people. Some of them are even soiboys.
I guess Lego wanted some yonger unexperienced people to work on Overwatch because its a new progressive game or something...

I'm looking through bricksets now, and making a list of all sets I used to have. The minifig from this set went missing for 3-4 years. I remember that I liked to pretend he's Superman (thanks to the vest) and threw him over bed, but couldn't find him there. Several years later my father found him while digging up stuff in the garden. I guess he fell in some kind of crack in the flooring, and when my parents were changing the floor, he got tangled in all of the mess and ended in the backyard.

This was the biggest piece of shit back in the day, even now. Is one of the prime examples of why I hate classic fags who talk up classic space is goat.

Play features for a child, are terrible, period. It's flimsy as fuck, the back canopy that opens is held by a 1x2 hinge that would fall off almost everytime.
The legs were awful and it 'barely' had a walk feature if you can call it that, again it was flimsy and it would most likely come apart every 20 or so steps.
Cockpit just a simple shield.

For the time, it made use of the parts library was an ok concept, but for a play toy, it was too flimsy and impractical, was originally one of the sets that destroyed my childhood lego experience.

That's pretty funny, I had the opposite reaction. I had a walker with the same kind of legs. Yeah, the walking action was pretty terrible. So I took it apart and tried to make it better, failed, experimented with just two legs, that was even worse, eventually I said fuck it and built a little flying spaceship. It really drove home the 'build whatever' aspect and made my childhood lego experience pretty fucking awesome.

You must be thinking of something else. The back of the Alienator is solidly connected with a pair of finger hinges and the legs are very sturdy when you walk it around.

You're right, I did forget it was a finger hinge, it was still extremely flimsy, and the legs weren't sturdy at all LOL
I also had 6940 and it was another flimsy leg walker, it was these design flaws that deteriorated my play value as a kid, the Spyrius sets were much better, but it was ultimately the flimsy designs that turned me away

I have a similar collection going. You have a few of the bigger ones I'm aiming at getting next.

My Toys R Us had tons of TLM2 stuff out on display. Was hard to not get a few. I just got the Movie Maker one. I'd get more but I spent so much this month on Lego and gifts, and I'm still waiting for Brick Bank on backorder.

But I had to get the new movie maker as I loved the Stephen Spielberg one as a kid. Yes I know there was a batman one and another one but I wasn't into lego at the time. I'm just glad Lego Movie Maker is back.

well it’s time to pack up my LEGO; parents are moving. I haven’t played with them in probably 8 years or so. It must be 130 pounds or so of 1998-2005 LEGO sets and stuff.

Help me out /toy/ what set do I get?

I'm torn between these two fantastic beasts sets. ight now I'm leaning towards the Grindelwald set because 1) it's cheaper 2) pretty nice looking wagon 3)I like the skeleton horse thing

Besides one major flaws with the suitcase imo is that 1) it can't be closed with the builds inside it and 2) I really dislike the blocky bodies of the beasts in conjunction with the very smooth, specialized heads

Deck #1 is about 30% finished. I'm going to build it like a modular where the roof, the poop and the deck can each be removed.

Looks like a big piece of shit at the moment but it's already quite swooshable and I have a pretty good idea about where it's headed. Getting the deck to line up with the angled smokestacks was my biggest fear but it all lined up perfectly without me doing anything.
