Toys R Us essentially died for me a few years ago when the one I normally went to converted to a Babys R Us, leaving the only TRU way over on the ass-end of town, an hour out of my way and guarded by bullshit M. C. Escher street layout and traffic. After that I pretty much did find most things I needed either from Gamestop, big box stores, the rare mall shops, or online.
But TRU still usually had a few things I ended up not being able to find elsewhere in the later years, so I still tried to find time to get there once a year. But I got increasingly lazy about that.
I think normally I'd be nonchalant about it closing, but I also have a ton of childhood memories of it, including spending weekends bumming around the Pokemon TCG centers they had for a while, playing cards with friends, some of whom are dead by now.
