Does anyone here think that the DC Multiverse Doomsday wave was partly to blame for Mattel losing the license? The wave was exclusive to Wal-Mart and it's been shelfwarming HARD ever since it was released back in 2016. Nobody wants fat Batman & lesbian Robin. Every Wal-Mart I go to has a full endcap of these dud figures and they're STILL full priced. They've pretty much bottlenecked other Multiverse waves from getting into the biggest retailer in the country. This one wave pretty much destroyed the momentum that Mattel was trying to get after relaunching DCU/Multiverse back in 2015/2016.

Quesada brought the entire brand around and basically saved it through comics alone. Ultimate Universe, MAX, Morrison XMen, Daredevil becoming popular again, is all thanks to Quesada.
As bad as event heavy cross overs are, they garnered top sales and actually brought a more cohesive continuity back to the Marvel universe.

Marvel was a mess during the 90s (also the time they started selling the rights) and Quesada brought it from the brink of total collapse.
All the movie rights being sold off happened in the 90s and that's thanks to the owner(s). That propped them up to survive long enough for Quesada to take over, because jack shit was done in making Marvel movies, because of all the legal problems

They're known for Hatchimals, Paw Patrol and Bakugan. The figures they've done has mostly been movie tie-in stuff like The Last Airbender, Tron Legacy, Monsters University, How To Train Your Dragon and most recently Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. I wouldn't call the figures good but they weren't trying to appeal to anyone over the age of seven. The PotC line for example was done entirely in an Imaginext style. The Tron figures did have some neat light up gimmicks.

I know you're trolling, but Figuarts don't have good likenesses and need to rely on shitty stickers to approximate not even a good likeness.

Mafex has good sculptors, but like most Japanese lines, they only make 2 or 3 three characters from each movie.
So hopefully Spinmaster hires some talented sculptors and introduces modern articulation into their toys, because they would need to fill out an entire wave iwth movie characters.

As someone who only got into collecting last year (only want a small collection of specific figures to complement my comicbook collection), I have to say that DC in general is retarded with their production of figures

Having read about every recent line, I have to say that they really had the potential to hit it out of the park with the Icons line. The only real issue that most people had was the size while they did improve on every other aspect. Hell, every figure even had quite a lot of accessories, which is great for the figures' price range. Them making the Essentials line could have been a step forward, yet they fucked that up beyond belief
>again a retarded-ass scale (instead of sticking to Marvel Legends scale like fans always demanded since the Icons line)

They didn't like Icons because they were 1:12 scale, had a bunch of accessories, more articulation than Marvel Legends, featured mostly unique sculpts for practically every figure, used more durable plastic, and complex paint apps... but they pretend none of this existed, because they weren't in 1/11 scale like MLs.

This is also why Suicide Squad, Justice League, and Aquaman are the greatest movies ever to them.

I really really really really wish DCC releases Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, and etrigan someday.

I own three icons and honestly they're nice looking but two of the three are really floppy. Especially my Flash who despite basically just being posed in front of the treadmill won't stand up at all anymore. Green Lantern was really floppy too. Blue Beetle is decent enough and he doesn't have the awful fragile rubber joints the DCUC one had.

A deeper purple would be better than that reddish colors.

I've still got this floating around somewhere. I know a lot of people will disagree with me but I miss the old DCD figures. They had minimal articulation and were in 7" scale but they usually looked pretty good and I liked getting figures based on specific iterations of characters.

eeeeh.... i don't disagree with you, but DCC produced a lot of great stuff that was as good as their old stuff, yet featured much more articulation.
I'm a little sad that there aren't as many articulated artist series now.
