>>7415279I'm kind of surprised this thread's still up, but I guess this is /toy/. I'm the guy who wrote that frothy rant about pull-rod primes and false breeches.
I actually like the deploy. A lot.
Is it an effective blaster for battles? Of course not. Possibly not at all.
Does it deliver on cool/fun factor? Hell yeah. It uses the removable magazine system, which is always both fun and cool, even useful; you can load and swap magazines sort of like with real firearms, you can use different types of magazines to increase ammo capacity, you can even reload the blaster quickly and efficiently by swapping mags and carrying spares. Furthermore, the pump-action prime is fun to use and is reminiscent, again, of real firearm mechanisms, the deploy can fit barrel and rail attachments for extra fun/cool, and to top it all off, it has that nifty "hidden briefcase" transformation feature.
Sure, the reverse-plunger design is weak for N-strike blasters. Sure, it's designed to load early N-strike "clip-system" darts, which are incompatible with all non-clip blasters (though I think the deploy can actually shoot elite darts, which are almost totally backwards compatible with all blaster). Sure, the swinging hinge on the magazine feed leads to jams, and magazines larger than 12 darts are unusable. Sure, the transforming feature isn't practical (who would even begin to think that this large, awkward, misshapen chunk of neon plastic moving parts is "just a flashlight/briefcase"?), and the flashlight is dimmer than a lit cigarette... But I'll be damned if it isn't a cool idea that looks neat, is fun to use, and loads/primes similarly to a real firearm, so you can feel like some kind of assassin or special covert operator using it.
It's a shame that it's so weak, inaccurate, can't be modded for any significant improvement, and the pathetic "flashlight" ends up just increasing the price, because it's actually a neat idea and fun to use.
