But that's because he doesn't need to be explored, the drama in this movie dosen't come from Charlie's berivement of her dad, it's just a catalyst for the conflict between Charlie and her family and thus finding solus in bumblebee.
>why earth?Because to cybertron, earth is in the middle of bumfuck nowere. Remember, they are basically just running away to regroup, and earth is a pretty damn good candidate. It's not advanced enough to have interstellar technology, but is advanced enough to have constructs that they can scan an blend in with.

Also agree to disagree on the personalities, drop kick was a bruiser and didn't really care about being sneaky, he was mainly interested in killing stuff, wile shatter was trying to get the job done properly and didn't see a reason to go in guns blazing when she could do it methodically.
