2018 has been over for a few days now, and most of the late import releases from it are starting to make their way to people, so I figure its time to do a Top toy thread. These were my own favorites(not necessarily what I think were the best) !) Perfect Effect MegaDragon: My favorite figure this year, a nice reworking of TM2 Megatron. While I didn't like the dragon mode as much, the robot mode is stunning. Only real flaw is the backheaviness hampering the playability. 2)Hot toys Iron Man Mk6: HT has done .a billion Iron Man figures and they're always pretty solid, this is my favorite movieIM so naturally it earns a spot. 3)Sentinel Gravion:in all honesty I know nothing about Gravion, but this is such a cool design and figure. 4)BW MP Dinobot: this is a flawed figure, but one I love for what it represents to me. Plus I'm just glad to have two great Beast Wars figures this year. 5)Mezco Doctor strange: there might've been better Mezco figures this year, but this one stood out to me. Lots of personality here with the cape, and the design is close enough as to not be divisive. 6)Revoltech AY Carnage: immensely playable and cool. 7)SoC Dragon Caesar/Dragonzord: a it underwhelming i since the Legacy version was already a nice update; this is better but its not as huge step up. Mainly here for how nice the Battle mode looks. 8)NECA TMNT '91 movie: a great set thats arguably cheating because the original molds aren't from 2018. still, one of the best sets of figures 9)FansToys Quietus/Cyclonus:while one of the better figures here, it wasn't as exciting for me, still very much a good figure. 10)Marvel Legends Tiger stripe wolverine:Here mostly because of my own love for it, its not a fantastic figure on its own merit and there were better Marvel Legends this year, to say nothing of toys in general. But its my favorite Wolverine toy now, and like Dinobot that makes me overlook its flaws.

>>7319187 Id say the best new toyline introduced were the Disney Store Toy Box figures. they have their flaws but a lot of characters have been sold out before the year's end, and articulation and sculpts are miles better than what Jakks, Mattel and Bandai were doing. oh and ill trigger you guys by mentioning Hasbro too.

This was my top 10. Haven’t gotten in the Revo Psylocke, Figma Widowmaker, Figuarts Trunks or Mafex Gwenpool yet though.

>>7319599 You're supposed to list toys released in 2018, not just bought in 2018.
Anonymous
>>7319599 OP here, if you like GGG you should try out Sentinel's Gravion and Dancouga if you can hunt them down. They're not quite as sturdy or robust, but they're similarly great mecha toys.

>>7319654 Got it. Thinking about selling Gravion, not that impressed by it.
>>7319648 He said of 18 not made in 18.

>>7319654 >Gravion The cheating Gran Kaiser's arms transformation killed all the interest in this figure for me.

>>7319690 I wouldn't be that bothered by it if it was $200 cheaper.

Mezco Iron Man is one of my favorites from this year. I was very skeptical when they announced it. However it really looks and feels amazing in person. The weight from the diecast and the paint make it feel and look super premium. The design is also very refreshing compared to all the movie designs from other lines. Definitely the biggest surprise of 2018 in my book.

1000toy's Killy is just a fucking masterclass in action figure design. Dude feels insanely well to pose, in addition to looking incredible.

>>7320143 I absolutely love him, and I still haven't even gotten around to reading the manga. It's great how naturally he holds stuff, normally it's a pain getting toys to do two-handed poses with guns or swords but he pulls off everything easily. Maybe not my top pick of the year but close.

>>7320143 Eh, i like him, but i wish he came with another head or face.
his expression is just too mopey and it makes me pose him like a uncomfortable NEET in public.
Anonymous
>>7320260 It be nice if he did, but he's barely expressive in the manga outside of a few instances, so I'm fine with it.
Anonymous
>>7320294 Non-experssive would have been fine, but his expression is just sad emo.
That's not really how he was in the comic or anime.

>>7320305 The way his hair frames his face is pretty dissimilar too. When I first saw the figure, I had not seen the design so the CG anime and assumed the odd hair style was referencing that, but it doesn't seem to be.

No one's saying it? The definitive toys of the year. The figures and the play set. Unmatchable.

I'd not want to make the effort either if people still ate it up no problem.

I get my final shipment of stuff from 2018 tomorrow. It has like 7 figures purchased over the last 3 months. Once I'm done messing with them o can judge on which is my best of the whole year. I have a feeling Mezco Popeye may take it for me.

>>7322937 Never saw the point in fighting, cool toys are cool toys! There's a lot more Marvel stuff in my list than I'd thought but I guess thats just because so many companies do Marvel toys.
I wanted to mention that this is my most anticipated toy of this year, too. So many past Spider-man figures have been so close to what I want, and this seems like it'd narrow that gap.
