sometimes you find good toys for cheap prices online and the seller doesnt say it was a smoker.
Sometimes it is more trouble to return it or more expensive or sometimes you just really want that figure

Wrap your toy in newspaper and let it sit in the garage (or other place away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures) for a day or so-- the newspaper usually absorbs the smell for whatever reason :)

i sell toys on ebay all the time. i buy them all used. 99% of them i clean. every now and then you get a bag of figures that some kid tried to set on fire those are really hard. there is a spray called ozium. that works for sure. but its expensive and causes cancer in california

Seconding this. You can also wrap them in dryer sheets and place them in a bag of bakeing soda if it really bad. Check on it every day and replce the baking soda when it smells like the toy. Eventually it will absord most of the smell and airing ut out will take care of the rest.
