>>7327172Just because a tiny amount of bacteria has been found, doesn’t mean it’s a viable answer. There are a ton of variables, especially when it comes to highly specialized organisms like this.
Also, the byproducts of plastic waste go far beyond particles in the environment. There’s also the chemicals that leach out as the plastics break down. It takes some pretty toxic chemicals to create plastics in the first place, you’ve got to be pretty naive to just think those elements disappear after the product is thrown away.
Yeah, sure you’re right. Nature will eventually adapt, and in a couple hundred thousand years it probably won’t be an issue. But humanity will have long since poisoned themselves to death by then. I’d personally prefer to not get to the point where humans have to go extinct because of the shit we do.
