A thread for 1:12 figures with cloth clothing in the style of traditional 1:6 figures.

Since last thread: COOmodel’s Samurai have finally shipped. Another Crazy Figures Operation Gothic Serpent figure announced. TBleague/Phicen 1:12 seamless female figure. Still no SAS or SS figures from Damtoys.

Has anyone gotten their Samurai yet?

I never saw this figure up for pre-order anywher, but the bike was up on HLJ and AmiAmi. Only ebay seems to have it now but I wouldn’t preoder a figure there.

Got mine in. Most surprising part? Fucking ankle rockers. They got 'em. Weapons are also metal at the metal bits.
You're also expected to know how to tie samurai armor on, so be ready to have youtube videos up.
The negatives, though, is that the stitching on my Date isn't up to snuff. One shoulder is way too poofed up that I had to fanagle it to the back so it isn't as noticeable. It has a few loose threads that have me worried. Also,changing hands is a herculean task because of the cloth. Lastly, these fuckers have faces only a Japanese mother could love. I doubt they were the most handsome in life, though.
Overall, amazing looking figure. I am not disappointed in the slightest.

Between them, Sanada is definitely the one to get. He comes with a spear over Date, a better face sculpt, and a better material for the arms. They're both pretty good, though.

COOmodel made 1/6 samurai before they did the 1/12 version and they also make 1/6 armored knights so I’m sure they’ll get to making those in 1/12 too eventually.
They haven’t announced any new 1/12 figures since the samurai and that was a while ago, though.

I’m just worried they’ll simplify them too much. As much as I love the samurai, there were definite compromises that made them less extravagant than their 1/6 counterparts.

Pictures don’t do this figure justice. As mentioned before he has swivel ankles, he also gas double jointed knees and elbows with great range of motion. There’s a stand to display tge armor separately but he comes wearing it and I don’t dare taking it off.

The display shown in the promo pictures is the box.
There’s a small wooden box that would be perfect to store the extra hands but it seems the lid is glued to the box and it isn’t meant to be opened. The flag doesn’t fut snugly into the flag stand and the stand is very light so it’s prone to falling over.

How did you tie the helmets? Did you find a good tutorial video? I found one that talks about passing the string through loops that aren’t ther in the toy.

I did a mix of a video and and some experimentation. Cross them under the chin, then bring the strings to the back of the head and cross them, bring them forward to cross over the chin, then bring them back again and knot them. I’m not too picky so I do like them but you’re right, the material of the surcoats doesn’t drape right which is usually the case with softgoods at this scale, it also tends to stick to the legs. The biggest problem is the lack of ankle articulation which really limits posing.

Did you check deep down into those holes? And did you check each hole for doubles? Definitely ask KG if you are missing anything. Expect to wait 3 weeks to get to you, though.
