A lot of the bucks seem to have wonky eyes (forget pupil asymmetry, some of the yellow bits aren't aligned on the sculpt), but I grabbed a decent one yesterday. Looks leagues better in person than online and I dig the colors on the baby Rex as well.

Haven't seen any dual strikes yet. Some Targets take their sweet time cycling with the reset. Hopefully in a week or two we'll all be in the same spot.

If Mattel can actually pull off a movie accurate paint job I kind of doubt they can or will. they've had there chance, I don't believe in them any more. Hell they have yet to use the right raptor sculpt for the TLW raptor the only one that was actually done right was BD blue and that was it.

The Destructo Raptor promises Battle Damage Blue sculpt (which I think is the best sculpt for raptors) but without the BD gimmick. Has this sculpt (BD Blue without the gimmick) been released in any kind?

My God you people couldn't have a more boring wish list. The crazier the better, this toyline has been quality so I can't wait until they branch out to the weirder stuff. Chaos Effect hybrids would be great, but really I'd love to see an updated take on Jurassic Series 2, with evil poachers with crazy bone trophies and Owen and some old army buddies leading up a protection unit against them.

A visitor center playset would be fantastic, given how much they've made skeletons so far I'm shocked it hasn't happened. Opening doors, break apart skeletons, some catwalks, and a couple side rooms of the kitchen, the raptor mural, and some computers would be fantastic.

You people are crazy. Wanting characters screen accurate from the movies in a toyline like this is bonkers. You're essentially asking for multiple "regular the person" as figures. This isnt a superhero movie, this isn't star wars, it's not even the matrix. Nearly everyone is in just random, every day clothing, and the only reason we even want characters like Grant are just because he is so well played for a non character on the page. You certainly don't see people requesting figures of the fucking Kirby's, or the kids from Jurassic World, or whatever. You want to spice things up. For fucks sake the figure of the Roland Tembo from TLW had a fucking dinosaur's face cut up and stiched across his chest. Now that's a toy.

The Legacy Collection is only for the original Jurassic Park movies not the Jurassic world rebrand of JW there is a full 14 years that separates the 2 Trilogies (soon to be Trilogy in 2020), the last Official Jurassic Park movie being JP/// wether people want to admit it or not.

Here's what you aren't getting: Jurassic Park and Jurassic world are specifically ABOUT Dinosaurs interacting with people. People, vehicles, and playsets have been part of every single toyline Jurassic has had specifically to cater to the fact that this is a franchise about Dinosaurs fucking people up. The mattel toys have been great when it comes to the dinos, and they clearly have some decent ideas when it comes to expanding the line. They should focus the parts of the line that are not just dinosaurs on interesting, fun concepts and not some person in a t shirt that happened to be in the movie with the dinosaur. The lines in the past didn't die when they switched to chaos effect Dinos, they died when they switched to lines that were just repaints of dinosaurs with no humans around to fight and eat and break out from. This is a fact.

Dinosaurs are the focus of the line but still need people and accessories to fill out the purpose of the property and the line. Fact.

If all you do is put out onscreen replicas of characters you will a) run out of figures very quickly and b) those figures will all be varying degrees of boring people in normal everyday clothes. Fact.

Creative concepts that encourage action and interaction with the dinosaurs will drive the line to be longer and more successful. Sure you CAN argue, against this, but that would make you a fucking moron.

Mattel could do that and maybe they should, but that don't mean they should also neglect doing characters from the films, given how they've already dipped their feet in the water with the Legacy collection. From the way things look, they're trying to play both fields in that they want to be both a line kids can dig as well as adult collectors, and to me they're managing alright. They could do JP series 2 esque raider figures and maybe it could be really successful, but I wouldn't pay them any mind because they're not my thing in regards to collection human figures.

Are terrible because that is an out of scale stego that looks wildly out of place and has no ties to the figure what so ever. Tim from the original JP line is a perfect figure, because it has a kid with a clearly baby Brachiosaurus along with a working snare to slide around the neck and lead him to his cat carrier sized cage. It's a figure with 3 accessories one of which is a dinosaur and everything interacts with each other and works perfectly. That way you buy the figure because you need the cool little dinosaur and are pleasantly surprised by the entire package.... And I don't remember Tim snaring any baby Dino's in the movie and carrying them around in a cage.

As to making other things, I think unique and fun characters are important. Generic army guys or whatever are okay, but tossing in some quirks and character is important and makes all the difference. You do realize that the theory of Tyrannosaurus being completely feathered was more or less shot down two years ago, right? The current understanding amongst the majority of paleontologists is that Tyrannosaurus (and other large bodied tyrannosaurids) were fully scaled, and that if feathers were present, were only located along the dorsal region of the animal.

Hell, it was enough to even make the developers of Saurian go back and change their Tyrannosaurus from feathered to scaly.

Guys, I just info about three toys and that will likely be announced furing the Toy Fair:

1) Brachiosaurus will be released this fall. Amargosaurus is expected to come out this summer.

2) The Indominus Rex photograph from the Hong Kong fair is a prototype, final figure will be revealed around march-april.

3) Mattel is working on Raptor Paddock playset. It is unknown if it's based on the JP or JW paddock.

That's all for now. More info will come out as the Toy Fair approaches.

Go read my post again. Do not twist my words and claim I dismissed anyone just because they were not male. Yea it’s a lot on ebay still. I managed to trade a spino I got off target.com w 5% off and ship to Mexico for $33.50. So it was about $60 total in the end. Walmart retail would have been like $45 w tax so not a horrible markup for a now ultra rare set.

I’m still curious as to why exactly it got cancelled, especially after being shown off at comic con. I guess Walmart said “no thanks!” after so many SA indoraptors sat on shelves.

Might be desperation to build hype. They don't need to work too hard to get people excited about JW stuff but overall Mattel in general is hurting so they have been jumping the gun on these reveals so that they could drum up as much excitement about one of their few currently successful lines as they can.

Not to start a shitwar, but Jurassic franchise had like 1 and a half good movie (JP1 and half of TLW). It's more about making quality designs and product, and Mattel JW deliver on those while Hasbro JW didn't and shelfwarmed. Star Wars also suffer from lacking character designs, say what you want about Clone Wars but their designs are cool first and make sense later. The Clone troopers were flying off shelves together with OT figures, while literal whos like Flynn, Rose, Guava Warrior, etc shelfwarm

I would disagree on this one. When the character is "cool" they'll sell. Captain Phasma was absolute jobber in the movie, but she looks cool and she still sell. The success of JW line was more that dinosaur figures are timeless, and the last time we had a decent mass produced dinosaur line was the TLW Kenner like 20 years ago

This. This is why Boba Fett who did basically nothing and died a humiliating death always sells, while a character like Han who everyone likes but makes a boring toy usually pegwarms.

Yes, you heard that right, Han Solo is historically a pegwarmer. Part of it is due to oversaturation and everyone who wants a Han already having one, but part of it is because visually he's not not very exciting. Kids have never gravitated towards Han the way they do to Vader, Yoda, Maul, Chewie, clone troopers, etc.

Roland Trembo was shown as a noble hunter who wanted the thrill of the hunt and the honor of bringing down a Bull T-rex but put his hunt a side to help everyone get off the island. juxtaposed with Vince's "Liberal" activist character who actively tries to kill the InGen employees even the scientists and caused most of the deaths on the island basically showed that both sides had good and evil aspects which during the time WAS subversion of the 90's narrative of Hunter bad Greenpeace type good.

Wheatley wasn't a hunter... he was a dick with a a pair of pliers he didn't want to hunt the dinos he just wanted to pull their teeth to show how much of a "badass" he was. and Ironically a subversion of the TLW.

Canadian anon posting a heads up for anyone interested in Destruct-A-Saurs,

I was shopping in my local Toys R Us and found they had some of the Destruct-A-Saurs assortment with the Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus and Pteranodon. I'm not sure how widely available they are as they aren't listed on the website, but in store looked like they had had at least 1 or 2 cases worth put on the shelf as there were at least 2 of each dino.

I purchased them at $16.99 CDN each before taxes, if any Canadians or Americans who live close to the border happen to be shopping in Toys R Us in the near future you might want to take a look as I don't know how much stock is out there.
