>>7333809Sunbow was the Korean company that did the animation for the original cartoon.
The cartoon designs were supposed to look cool, not actually resemble the toys. They also had issues with scale, and sometimes some errors like the shape of Optimus's mouth shield and shit like that.
So compromising on a toy design in order to be more accurate to the original cartoon is sunbowed. Cutting down on gimmicks in order to come with random accessories from the original cartoon, colors that are really muted, limiting poseability in order to have the proportions of the cartoon, and so on.
Its basically one of the design philosophy arguments we like to have.
1) Toy should resemble the comics/cartoons/game/movie because that's why they want it.
2) Toy should be a great robot, fuck everything else.
3) Gimmicks should be fun. Fuck the rest, it should actually DO something.
4) Vehicle mode and transformation matter the most, the robot can look like ass as long as it looks like its actually saying true to the "disguised" in "robots in disguise".
These obviously aren't mutually exclusive, but nothing that I'm aware of checks all those boxes at once and someone always has to bitch when the rest of us are happy.
