3D scanning a 3D print doesn't even make sense. YOU NEED A FAR BETTER 3D SCANNER THAN THE 3D PRINTER for this to work. You say you work in "this industry" but you don't seem to know how bitch ass it is to generate functioning surfaces and edges from point-cloud data.
3D Prints are used by these companies during the prototyping phase ONLY to get a feel of the physical model and if it'll work right. The only instance you'd use a 3D print for molding the toy is when you're using certain casting methods, like the nipponese garage kits made from silicone molds, or investment casting for those retarded tourist bronze statuettes.
